Ok, so I've been stuck in the planning/design stages for a few different projects. Now I've chosen one to go forward with and am about to start work. Assuming I don't come across any major problems with the implementation (and I don't forsee any), this project has me very excited. I'm also thinking of having another high-score contest with this game, even though the last one wasn't too popular after the first week or so. But with bigger prizes, that may change.
Anyway, all I'll say is that it's another 2D game, and a genre I haven't seen done yet. As for the farm sim/adventure idea I posted earlier, that's still on the backburner along with 1 or 2 other projects I was thinking about (but never got past the planning stage).
EDIT: Gameplay system underway. So far, I've got the movement of the main (playable) sprite down pat. Well, it's a start...but it's more than I've done on any other project lately. But at this point, I can definitely say that I will see this one to completion, or die trying (or at least this one will see all my attention until it's finished).

It all sounds great, up until I didn't find out what it was.

Please tell me it isn't PONG, Pac-Man, or Breakout.
I've got half begun versions of PONG and a pseudo Pac - Man mini game I'm struggling with for Videogamedrome.
Breakout is just in planning stages and now that I think about it I'd rather have someone else do it anyway... That would break my brain.
Whatever it is, if it has your rapt attention I am sure it will be excellent.
Hey! That reminds me... didn't I win the opportunity to be a test player for this?
I promise to keep secret everything you wish kept secret.
Peace.

bigfoot: All in due time Rodak: You have a good memory, lol! Yes, by winning the Tetris contest, you have indeed won the ability to be a test player for this game. When I'm nearing the testing stage, I'll be sure to send you a copy of it for testing (assuming you still want to then). And no, it's not Pong, Pac-Man, or Breakout, although I was thinking about creating those (and may still at some point). But this project's a lot bigger than those simpler classics.

I started working on a breakout game after Rodak mentioned trying to make Pong a few months back. I ran into a few stumbling blocks, as it's not as easy as I though it would be. Glad you hear you're bringing a few classics to the RPG Maker 2 game system I hope to play Tetris someday. I'm so far behind with RPG Maker 2 games that I feel I'm missing some great stuff. Keep up the great work and someday I'll play it. ;D

Well, I'm not bringing another classic back this time around. Just a "classic" genre. But the game will be entirely original.
Well, I've got the collision detection down, and also the template for the first type of sprites. By template, I mean that for this type of sprite, all I have to do is design where/when the sprites will come into play on paper, and then it's just a very simple matter to put them into the game.
I probably won't post many more updates (except for major updates or announcements concerning this project), but progress is smooth right now, and I haven't done this much actual work on an RPGM2 project since Tetris. So I'm looking forward to continuing to create this game.

Don't know if it will help ya but I found a way for 100% uninterrupted music, and to do a content script at any point in time. This can really add to any game environments, like in zelda I want to have walls come in and crush you! Since I can froce the player to be pushed back by a moving object this way and then have a crushing animation, It'll be awesome. Or forced time events are all open too.

I believe Doan already came up with a way to play "100% uninterrupted music". Anyway, like Tetris, this game runs entirely with action scripts so I probably have little to no use for that trick with this game. But I'll keep it mind in case I ever have the need for it. Thanks.

It's good to hear you've decided on one project and you're very excited about it...Looking forward to hearing more...

Well, production has been halted temporarily while I help Drew/Spidey/WhateverHisNameIsNow with a jumping engine. But as to my progress, I've come across a hurdle that will be tough to overcome. The only solution I've come up with so far would probably cause quite a bit of slowdown in the game, if the solution even works. I'm still going to try and figure a way around this though. But it may come at the expense of some game elements that I really wanted in there. And if that's the case, I'm going to have to re-evaluate this. Plus, after working hard on this jumping engine for Drew, I may try creating a platformer with this engine instead. Btw, I may as well reveal that the current project is a 2D shmup/shoot'em up/space shooter. So would you guys rather see a more basic version of the shmup, or a 3D Platformer (which would as always get my utmost attention to detail)? Not saying I'm going to listen anyway , but I'd like to hear what you guys would rather see.

Thanks, but I'm a bit discouraged after finding I couldn't do what I initially wanted to do with it. Some of it due to a blatantly obvious oversight that I don't know how I missed. I'm not ruling out my alternative way around it. But it will result in something not quite as stellar as I hoped it could be. At any rate, my time will be limited for the next short while, so I'll use that time hopefully to decide whether to create a slightly inferior shmup, or to start a new project (or continue one of my current ideas for projects).

Maybe you will continue with Vanished Nights...... Just wishful thinking.......

I really do hope you remake Vanished Nights, its easily the most imaginitive RPGM2 game out there. And if you can make a CBS that is inspired by Take's, I am all for it.
