I played it and I'm impressed and wierded out.
The cutscene in the pub was good, you made good use of motion changes, single actions, and looks as well as camera variances. The one negative is that sometimes it was hard to follow because we didn't know how the characters think and they repeated each other some (what's food without ale or something?), and that the camera switched in one frame so it was somewhat nausiating. Nonetheless, good job on it.
The penguin and ostrich in the inn is funny, good job.
The map has a lot of weak points to it, but I know how much of a bitch that could be.
The poopy pyramid's -really- hard to find.
The camera zooming for townspeople is cool, but I think it would be better if was only for more important townspeople. Have you played my latest demo yet?
Your music choices were superb. At first when I read that you changed Mellow 5 to tempo 300 and pitch 9 I was like 'What?! Mellow 5, you can't change Mellow 5', but it sounded really good in your game, and was placed well. I hardly recognized it!
One thing I noticed is the music stays on the boat vehicle's after getting off of it. I noticed the bed glitch too.
The warping was very bizarre, but ironically, fits in with this game perfectly (as well as all the default enemy actions' screwed up bounciness that I can't stand).
Some of the VFX weren't anything special, but others were quite impressive. Overall, very good job on them. At first when you said the frenchman yelled random taunts I thought you were just using Message Window messages. The 'Up Your Ass' VFX was too nasty for me though. I'd say probably my favorite was the rocket going up and blasting down on the enemy (don't know which ability).
The puzzles were cool too, and seemed to work flawlessly. They weren't too hard (VERY IMPORTANT not to be too hard in my opinion) so they get a big thumbs up from me (I solved them on my own).
Overall, from what I've read this demo was kind of what I expected... except not. It's very impressive for a first demo, and I look forward to the next.
