i am happy to report that i am working on the final dungeon in my game. not that i'll be finished afterwards, of course. still have to fill the barracks ;Dand finish making the skits, add abilities to the characters, plus make my title screen (gonna need help for this so stay tuned).
after all of that, then i'll be able to put my game up for download (where and how do i do this?) and i got a max drive today, so no delays!
also i have officially renamed my game to "Genesis", and unless that's copyright infringement (let me know if it is), then that will be the final name.

Well, I'm sure Sega might sue you if it's called "Genesis". If you added some other word to your title, I think you'd be good to go (I don't what I'd tell you to place, but I think you could figure it out.)
And glad to hear you're almost done. Once you're done, I think you should send an e-mail to Doan with your game attached to it. Then, he'll take care of the rest. But be patient, because Doan's a busy man and it might take a while for him to get it up on the site.

how bout "Genesis Chronicle"? Gives it kind of a fancy sound...anyway i finished everything except title screen (help me out...) and the last of the skits, and the barracks (one more). after that, i'm 100%. but then i have to play test just to make sure EVERYTHING works, which will take a good two years...
i'm also working on my own strategy guide for it, which i'll post once my game's up.

That's a very good title. Sounds like an actual commercial RPG. Oh, and if you're having trouble getting another character for the barracks, I'll give you another character from a game I tried to do a long time ago Name: Len (I forget his last name) Model: Hero (give him blonde hair and Face A just like Devante) Personality: Just think Lloyd (And this was done way before I played Tales of Symphonia) ;D Anyway, hope that helps. Edit: BTW. I forgot to mention. Devante should have tan skin. As for Len, give him fair skin (just don't give them that default skin color )

Don't mention it. I'm gonna love seeing Devante and Len in your game.

I don't think Sega would sue over a game named Genesis. As long as it wasn't a console anyway.

almost there...now, for my title screen, i want it to say "GENESIS CHRONICLE" in the center, with black background and fire in the back (and have some BGM) and have it all repeat over and over until the player presses 'X'. then, i want it to show text (like fu-ma). then i want it to disappear when the player presses 'X' and go right into the game. i want this to happen everytime a player begins a new game. how do i do this?

1) Use a text box and the size option to make the letters large and place them in the center of the screen. If you want fancy effects (like burning letters) you need to use a 2D Visual Effect instead.
2) Create a dungeon with a black background and place the start up events in this dungeon. This includes the flames.
3) Turn off party display in a special enter map for this area. Since you can't see the party only the Party Display (off) command is really needed in this script. The rest of the script commands should be in an auto event because VFX won't start until the Enter Map script ends.
4) Once the player presses a button (use the Input: Button (constant wait) command), use the Text : Screen command to display a message on the screen like FU-Ma. Note that the letters and words need extra spaces because an error in RPG Maker 2 squeezes all the letters together.
5) Use the button command again, and this time warp to the starting map.
Since this dungeon is only used at the begining, you don't need to worry about making sure it doen't run again. If you do want the party to go back here, just warp them into the dungeon and the messages will appear again.

quite complicated...i'll try and if it doesn't work i'll say so.
since i'm stupid i may need to see what the scripts would look like.

sorry, DW, but i have no idea WHAT the hell i'm doing...
if you could give me a step-by-step detailed kinda thing, that'd be great. i'm in no hurry.
i can also always just go without a title screen, but that'd be pretty lame...

you'll find a full explaination of how to make a title screen here. This isn't the same as what you want but it should help you to understand what you need to do. Good luck.

got some bad news. it seems that some of the flags that i used are hesitating to turn on...and turn off whenever they feel like it.
i was test playing my game last night, and as i was playing, one of the events didn't disappear. i saved, returned to editor, and checked, and in the script i turned the flag on, and in the event i had a condition where the event disappears when that same flag was on. i noticed in the debug menu that sometimes flags that were turned on earlier went off, even tho none of my events turn off flags. i have no idea what on earth is going on here. i plan on trying to fix it, but if someone could help me with this...

Yes, I've noticed weird gliches in my game with flags not turning on when they should. I think it has something to do with several events running at once and using the warp command to end scripts. The flags just don't get a chance to turn on. Try putting a wait before any warp command that has a flag turn on before the warp and see if that helps.

You usually have to input wait commands before warps, so things get done, like fade ins/outs. I have a 10 F wait before any warp.

hmmm. in one of my dungeons you fight a mummy miniboss, which turns on a flag. later in the dungeon you encounter a pharaoh (boss). defeating it turns on another flag. the pharaoh disappears, but when i go back the mummy is there again. also i have instances where i notice in the debug menu that some of my previously turned on flags go off, which sometimes denies me access to towns that should be available. i took a look at some of the scripts and changed stuff around, but i don't know if it'll work.

That sounds very strange. All I'd say is double check your scripts/events and make sure the Flag ON command is there and that you have Page Conditions which have conditions where these flags are on. However, it seems like you already did that. So, that's all the advice I could give Sorry. I wish I could help more.

in the Tech Help section, DW said:
"Check my FAQ for Sample flags that you can and can not (without rewriting scripts) use."
now, i'm no rocket scientist, but are there sample flags that are already used? 'cause maybe this is where the problem lies. just a hunch...

Not sure. Maybe you should check out DW's FAQ. I have yet to see it myself.

only problem is i don't have WinZip. maybe i could play it safe and not use any sample flags, but it'd take f o r e v e r to change them all. dammit! -the smurf

I'd recommend not using any Sample Flags until you know what they do, or just don't use them period.
Many Sample FLags are used to begin with, for example off the top of my head I know two Sample Flags are always On when on the world map and Off when not (but you can change this) and I don't know what they do but they probably do something.

Yeah, I probably won't use them. However, after I check out DW's FAQ, I could change my mind.

well, i changed some stuff around, located a few problems, and fixed them. i'll play through the game again, and if i run into more problems with sample flags, then i'll replace the defective ones. the ones that are working okay i think it's safe to leave alone, right?
hoping to be finished by sometime in this life

...so finally i just say "screw it" and replace all the "problem" flags with new ones. still need to play test, but this is in progress, and once i get all of the bugs (well, maybe i'll leave a few for fun) worked out, i'll do something to get it posted. i'm also working on my own strategy guide for it, but won't really get into that until the game's actually finished.
