Suggest to me any ideas for tools I should make in my game. If you didn't know by now they are items you equip out of battle to complete puzzles and procede further into certain dungeons. So far I have "Horse Shoes" which give you a boost of speed and the power to knock down breakable objects and doors or push certain things in their place, Feather Back for making you lighter to jump foreward or straight up, Binoculars for viewing in a distance, and thats it so far. Any suggestions?

Well, I'd say not to worry too much about it. Work on some other element in your game (story, battle system, etc.). Sometimes, when you're doing something else, you'll get inspiration. After all, it strikes in the weirdest of places.

Here's some ideas I had for my game:
Torch - burn holes in some buildings/ light things on fire.
Crossbow - can hit hard to get to switches
Claws - can climb up steep/slippery surfaces
Jump boots - you already have these
Belt of strength - can push heavy objects
Wings - can fly short distances (i.e. over pits)
Thief tools - can open locks and disarm traps
Psychic helm - can move distance objects (i.e. levers) with your mind
I haven't done much with these ideas yet so I don't know how hard they will be to create (shouldn't be too hard). Feel free to use them if you can figure it out.

I agree with Neo Samurai in that you should focus on the nuts and bolts of the game before the bonus extra stuff. That being said some good games to play or read through FAQs at gamefaqs.com of would be the Tales series (Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Legendia, etc.) and the Zelda series (Legend Zelda, etc.).
