Notice that if you want to vote in this poll, you have to make a decision. I disagree. Bob Barr is not listed as an option. Really, I would love to vote for Bob Barr, but it would just be a throwaway vote. He seems to be the only candidate who makes sense. McCain and Obama, while they both have their strengths, each have too many weaknesses for my taste. Unfortunately, if Obama wins there's a good chance two members of my family would be out of jobs, and neither of them can afford to be unemployed. The problem I have with McCain is that I have no idea what he's going to do. His economic plan is this huge mystery that could either work wonders or set us back. Obama, on the other hand, has economic policies that leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm of the belief that government should stay away from the economy, and Obama doesn't seem to agree with that sentiment. On the other hand, I don't really know if McCain agrees or not. Consequently, I will probably have to go with McCain. With a Democratic Congress there's a good chance that McCain won't be able to get anything done, which is exactly what I want. However, Obama will have a very easy time getting things passed by a Democratic Congress, which I don't want. For me, it's a matter of stalling for four years until a better choice comes along. But, we know THAT will never happen. I hate politics. -the smurf

I'd be careful when voting for that reason. My dad voted for Bush in 2000 for the same reason: because he didn't want any change and the democrats were in charge of congress. Need I say more? And Bob Barr's the Libertarian candidate, right? I like him too. I'd like to mention that Ron Paul said that "In order for [Ron Paul] to speak at the Republican National Convention, [Ron Paul] would have to give up everything [Ron Paul] believes in." Essentially he, a fellow Libertarian, was saying he disagrees with everything McCain stands for now (I liked the early McCain too, but not the current McCain) (and yes, I know Ron Paul is technically a Republican - he only runs as one so he can win. his views/opinions are that of a Libertarian). Regardless, it's your prerogative.

I'd like to say "abstain." I like Obama better than McCain, but that isn't saying much, and I just can't get on board with a lot his plans that call for bigger government and more oversight. Neither candidate is really for smaller government, though, so I don't really have a choice that represents my views. If I even end up voting, I'll be writing in "Ron Paul".
Edit: Sorry, I just read the posts leading up to mine for the first time. I totally agree with both you and Smurf. McCain is a giant douche. I just hope Obama doesn't turn out to be too much of a turd sandwich.
