I just got Mega Man on my Wii about a week ago. I defeated Gutsman, but I have no idea what his ability is supposed to do. I pressed the attack button, yet nothing seems to happen. Is there any special circumstances under which it can be used?

Sorry, the last time I played a Mega Man game was when I was in 3rd grade.
