The newest topic is the one about the custom music in my game.
I also posted something in the most recent creation tips thread.
Edit: I just remembered something else I'd thought of that might help people. I'll go post it in the creation tips topic now.

It's official, I got out (found) my X-Port today and my dad's gonna buy a second memory card tomorrow, so I'll be putting the demo up then. The playable demo includes the stuff below, and soon Doan'll have made and posted up video demos with this stuff in it for those of you that don't have a file transfer device or don't want to go through the time. Go to the Paladin forum and read up on it now if you'd like, or wait till the demos are up, whatever.

Damn, it's too bad I don't have an X-Port.
Anyway, you can count on me checking out your video demo. I've been waiting a while to see/play this demo (mostly wanting to play it).

Thank you very much to Doan, 7 of my 9 songs are up to listen to here: www.doanthenado.com/files/WilliamKirkIt'll play automatically when you click on them using some version of Windows Media Player, so it doesn't take much time or effort to listen to them. Please tell me what you think of them. Also, if applicable tell me how good/how much you liked each one specifically. I'm in the process of determining which make the cut.

i dont have time to listen to all these, so ill post my reviews as i listen to them.
adventuretime: the first cymbal crash needed to be louder, carried longer, and the intro should be a little crescendo. followed by a decrescendo into the regular tune. maybe all of the other cymabal crashes needed to be... carried longer as well.
also, the very monotone harmony could be varied some. it seemed to work well when it was in the sections it played singularly, but when played together, id go w/ a 2-3-1 arpeggio. id even suggest doing that w/ the lone notes. or maybe a 1-3-2 for it. (an arpeggio is just a chord on the guitar, if your not sure. when you hold down the strings, to play a chord, you play a series of notes (an arpeggio) in communion, which is all a chord is). anyways, the harmony needs some variation.
and may i suggest a base line or percussion line. the song is good, but seems (a little, not much) hollow (sp??). anyways, a good tune overall. just needs some fine tuning (no pun intended, can i get a drumroll, again, no pun intended) hope my humor's not too much for you.
anyways, if this isnt the type of review your looking for, let me know. and ill let you know which ones i like when ive listened to them all.

I would but unless the bass gets quite loud it can't be heard, and RPGM2 can only take so many sounds being played at once (which is why a lot will sound somewhat hollow). By having only 3 parts repeated over and over in different patterns I save a ton of memory ('verse' 'chorus' and 'bridge'). The part where the violin cuts off randomly in the chorus has been fixed. From what it sounds like an arpeggio is that's actually what I have with the piano. Overall, did you like it or think it would be good for the game? (that's more what I was thinking, though thank you very much any ways)

I listened to a couple. They definitely weren't bad. I liked your Adventure Time song. You using that on the field because that's what I think of when I hear it?

All of them came from some original guitar line, which usually is either the piano, guitar, or harp parts in the songs (rythm). Adventure Time came from a very pleasant and nice, happy soft piece that I liked the most out of my songs when they were just the one guitar part. When I added the snare drum/cymbals (a second rythm) and flute/violin (under the first note played in each measure on the piano, like a lot of bass lines on softer songs) it turned out greatly for a cliche cutscene of 'let's all go on a big adventure, and perhaps we'll save the world while we're at it' so I named it 'Adventure Time'. I haven't thought about it too much, but with the world map I was thinking of having a few different songs possible for it and this one is definitely a good one for it. I think Woof Woof Song would also make a good one for the world map, and Happyville, Gay Ol' Time (9th song, haven't uploaded it yet), and Pleasant Dreams would work well too, but may be better for cutscenes or cities. My favorites are Total Terror (8th song, on newest playable demo, I think) and Pleasant Dreams, but Adventure Time and Save the World give me a good smile at how cheesy they are.

Yay!! I just noticed Doan made and put up a 15:00 video demo of my game. Thank you so much Doan!!!! Sorry, it seems this post over-wrote yours hitou. I saw it though, and thank you for the continued interest in my game; it helps a lot for motivating me. Perhaps this is what deleted mine and (I think taizon's, FR's, or Nash's) post that one time before. What happened was this: I had this window up for a while, finished making a post at the Pav and came back here with a second window, saw hitou's post in this topic in the second window, posted my post in the old window (which didn't have hitou's post), and it seemed to over-write his.

I'm still waiting for my memory card to be sent back with your demo Will, but I just noticed you have some links to your music. So I'll start posting my impressions of them as I listen to them (possibly over the span of a few days).
AdventureTime: Very simple. There really isn't much happening musically, but it would make a very nice piece for running in the background so that it doesn't take the attention away from the player.
As I listen to this music, I get an image of someone running carefree through an open meadow with lots of flowers. All worries are set aside and it's like this person is in their own little world.

EvilAtWork: The first two "passages" are very nice and have huge potential, although the transition between the two seems a bit rough. By the first two passages, I mean the beginning section where one note is played at a time, and also where the notes are played twice as quickly (up until the next section where the pitches start decreasing).
Unfortunately, the music never really develops, and you're left with a "barebones" structure. It would be nice if a melody was introduced after the first two passages. And possibly a counter-melody as well. A bit more work on this piece could go a long way and really make it something special. As it stands, it's just a little monotonous.
As for imagery, I picture two opposing armies slowly marching towards one another on neutral ground, in a medieval setting with horses and the like. Clouds are starting to come in overhead, and a battle is about to begin. The battle never starts though, as the music never really gets off the ground.
EDIT:
Happyville: You have a very simple, but beautiful melody in this piece. Very soothing. Like all your compositions so far though, it's lacking a little. But it actually works for the best in this piece.
You know in some games where after the title screen sits there for a bit, and then the credits start rolling while some gameplay footage/screens are shown? I think this music fits perfectly with that. The credits part I mean. Or maybe even for the title screen as well.
