Yes, there are rules for posting in this forum. Here they are:
1. Do not post anything illegal. I think you know what I mean. If you're not sure, you probably shouldn't post it.
2. There should be no spam anywhere except the spam board. If you don't have something to offer, there's no reason to post. Excessive spamming outside the spam forum may reset your post counter.
3. I am no fan of censorship, and I will not censor your material. Some words will be replaced by this symbol: . Please do not try to get around this filter by replacing letters with symbols, as even with the ing face (see?), it is usually possible to tell what you are really saying. In addition, it is understandable that some posts may have vulgar or offensive (for some people) content: as long as these posts have some kind of artistic or otherwise value, they will be permitted. I only ask that you clearly mark such posts with a WARNING: message which describes why you have assigned it such a note.
4. Do not put others down. If you're not giving constructive criticism or making a joke that even the person you're talking to can smile at, you shouldn't say it.
5. Keep new threads in their proper forums. I will move threads that are in the wrong forum, but if I have to move your threads too often, I will get quite irritated.
6. DO NOT hijack others' topics. This is very discourteous, very irritating, and it will not be tolerated. Unless what you're saying has something to do with the topic, start a new topic. I will edit hi-jacked posts to say, "I am an inconsiderate person."
7. Do NOT create more than one username. The new username will be deleted and the old one will receive a ban warning. It is understandable that you may forget your password or that you didn't properly receive the initial confirmation email. In cases like this, go to the Account Problems board and post your problem there. If you leave your e-mail address, I can e-mail you a new password for your account that you can use to log in with.
8. Anyone who creates a username and does not post will have that name deleted after one month of having 0 posts. This is mostly to keep the member lists clear of non-contributing people.
9. Much like the Pavilion (and many other forums), rule-breaking posts will get edited and the offending member will receive a warning that will remain for one month. If you are out of line more than once in a month, you will be banned for a month.
Suggestions to make me like you better: The following are not actually rules, but they cover the things that really irritate me and detract from the quality of the forum. Completely ignoring these suggestions will eventually get you a warning. These suggestions do not apply in the Spam forum or in other people's game forums. Please respect others' posted rules/suggestions when posting in their forums.
1. Please try to use good grammar. This isn't English class, but the ability to use good punctuation is a virtue. Things like LOL and ROFLMAO are okay sometimes, but please don't habitually use shortcuts like this. This is not an instant message, it is a message board. Please take an extra minute or so to make your posts readable.
2. Put proper titles on your posts. I hate looking in a forum and seeing a title that says "Please help me with this." It is just as easy and more helpful to everyone else to say "I need help zipping my pants," that way we know right away what you need help with. Then, if someone else comes along and doesn't know how to zip their pants, they can check out your thread. Even worse than not titling your thread is giving your thread a misleading title. This could lead to a warning pretty quickly.
3. Double-posting is okay ifit has been more than a day more than a few minutes have passed since your previous post. Otherwise, simply modify your last post and include the new info. In some cases, especially if you have a lot of long posts explaining scripts, double-posting is just fine. I just don't like to see 2 or 3 short posts in a row in a 20 minute span, all by one person.
4. In the Technical Help forum, please try to search for information on your question before posting something that has already been answered. There is a wonderful search feature here at the top of every page, and it can be very helpful in finding the information you're looking for. Sometimes, you can get your question answered right away without having to wait for someone to answer it.
If you just follow my rules and suggestions, you have nothing to worry about. Let's enjoy each other's company and get posting.
