my brother, nick, is level 60, has almost the whole board filled, is 60, almost 70 hours in the game. Why? because him and i are going through the whole thing on Active option, from beginning to end.
btw: this game is slow. i cant seem to follow it's slow story line.
edit: and i think my bro got to the last boss just last night... wow it's hard.

I'm having fun with this game so far. I just got out of the Bhujerba Mines. I've been having a lot of fun customizing my characters with the Licenses. And I just discovered my first Quickening (Though I'm not really sure how to properly use it). ;D The story so far is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. I kind of wish that you didn't automatically attack every time you target an enemy until they're dead, but I'm starting to tolerate it a bit more. Anyway, looking forward to playing some more of this game.

[white]I finally went out and picked my collectors copies of the game and guide last tuesday. I've logged over 20 hours of play since then. Died once. Damn Elementals. Obtained my first esper. And completed my troop by snagging all six characters as permanent party members.
I love this game. Its just as fun as the previous FF's. Its different, that's for sure.
[red]POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING!!![/red] All the following text is black, highlight to read.
[black]The plot from 12 is something entirely new for square. I don't know it all yet, so I can't be certain, but I do know that the characters never stray far from the home country of Dalmasca and that it seems as though we are not saving the world, but just our own country.
Playing without some great evil to destroy is bizarre at best.[/black]
Needless to say the game has me enraptured. It's a blast, and a thankful exchange considering I'll be losing FFXI when I move.[/white]

Anyone else find that this game consumes too much time?
Oh well. I think it's too hard, and the story is worse than Matsuno's earlier works. I can see how it dropped in price quickly despite not being a Greatest Hits yet - it's too hard for the average gamer, story's too complex for the average gamer, and gameplay's too funky for average FF fan but not Actiony enough for average non-rpg gamer.
What do you think of it?

I love it. If you are a true gamer, you can pick out what you do not understand. It takes some time, but just sit there, and think about what you just heard, and you will understadn it. The gameplay, depending on how you play it CAN be awesome. But, it all depends on how to player does it.

Decided to restart this game. I felt like my characters weren't fully developed. This time, I decided to take the road of a true FF fan and try the Active battle mode. It's a lot better than Wait mode in my opinion.
Hopefully, this time, I won't end up messing up their licenses.
