For those that have it, how much damage have you caused in DQVIII from psyching up? The most I got was with Yangus in super high tension. He caused 284. Not much for how much damage can probably be caused later on in the game, but what's the highest amount of damage any of you who have the game have caused from psyching up?

I don't tend to psych-up much since I find the battles easy enough without it. I just did about 280 damage with a normal critical hit aganist a boss (It was Yangus with Oomph cast on him) so I'm sure I could do over 1000 damage with a 100% psyched-up Yangus. I'm near the end of the game (or at least the first game - I hear there is a bonus game once you beat the "final" boss).

I can do over 1000 with Yangus or Hero easy with oomph casted on them at 100% tension level. I finally started playing the game again today, since I was stuck on a real diffucult boss.
*Spoiler*
Doulmaguses second form, man was he hard as hell.
*Spoiler end*
I hope to beat it soon.

I bet, I am currently stuck in the game, I am after the part when they killed off the 6th gaurdian (the old lady) and I can't find the next place to go. I haven't played many games in a while.

You need to find a way to fly. If you go into the old lady's cave you can read some stone tablets that give you some hints of where to go next.
You also need to get a map. You may remember a town that contains a lot of thieves. Might be a good place to look for hints of where a treasure map might be.
Talking to your team members (press start) can give you a few hints of where to go next as well. Good luck.
Great game. Simple and complex all at the same time.

Since this topic seems to be more about DQVIII in general rather than psyching up, I decided to change the title.
Now, I have a question. What would be the best way to defeat the Godbird Empyrea (If anyone knows or can remember)? I've been stuck on this boss for months and I want to start playing again (It just sucks to be stuck on one boss in a very enjoyable game).

Its been awhile since I have played this game, but I reccomend just maybe leveling up for a couple of hours. That is usually the best strategy.

Don't level up too much or the game will become too easy. Psyching up helps a lot. And get a monster team to help soften up the enemy before attacking yourself.
Yangus' helmet smash attack (or whatever it's called) will lower any enemies defense, even bosses, making them easier to kill.
Make sure you buy the best equipment you can and use the alchemy pot to make better equipment (there are FAQs around if you don't want to experiment).
Good luck.

Yes. There's a bonus dungeon. It has some nice items in it. However, I haven't really explored it much yet.

Also, if you play through the bonus dungeon you'll learn more about the characters and get a completely different ending to the game! DQVIII is so cool

New ending!? I am gonna have to go back and play DQ8 and do that. By the way, I read in the rumor column in the new egm, that if the DQ games sell well on DS and Wii (Rocket Slime, DQM Joker, and DQ Swords) that the 9th adventure will be a Wii exclusive. Pretty interesting news.

You have to kill him again to get the second ending, after killing the Dragovian boss and getting a special item in town.

I recently bought the game, 3-4 weeks ago, and it was great. I have beaten most dragons (all but the ultimate) and am about level 70 average. I ended up getting bored of the game after playing it for 80 hours, but it was worth the money. I want to start playing again too, but have been too busy making my game on rpgm2.

Finally beat him, and got the (spelled backwards for spoiler) gnir nainogra. Heard the story too, yada yada, but do I have to defeat the emerald version of him as well in order to get the secret ending?

You have to beat about 4 more dragons, then, without any breaks in between battles, you have to fight every dragon with half of their HP. After you beat them all again, you have to beat the Ultimate dragon right after that with now breaks. After you beat the Ultimate dragon, beat the last boss again to get the secret ending.

I've been thinking of getting this game, but was scared away by the long play time. I'm working like 50-60 hours a week.
But, after reading this thread I'm going to get it.
