Thanks to 142 clicks in the last 4 days (counting today), we are now over $120 in ad revenue. We actually exceeded $100 on November 30, so I should receive a check around the end of December. This money will be used to pay for my web hosting for the year (taxes will be taken out of it).
We are a fifth of the way towards our second $100, so I'd like your opinion on a contest. To aid in the posting of game saves and encourage more game sharing, I'd like to give away a bunch of Max Drives. I am going to write an e-mail to Datel to see if it would be possible to get them at a discount price. Anyways, all I would require is that you submit your name to me via PM if you don't have a file transferring system already. If you are at least a 3-star member, you will be entered into a random drawing to give away a bunch of Max Drives.
Let me know what you think. Don't submit your names yet, I will make an announcement when the contest is official.

Shouldn't the most active member or the member with the best forum for his game, who also doesn't have a file transfer device, be given a Max Drive over people who have a concept but look like they may never actually make a game or who are posting for the sake of being entered in the contest?
I'm not sure how many need a max drive, but I would certianly want the most deserving members to get them first. This is your contest, so you can do what you want. This is only an opinon after all. Since I already have a X-port, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. It's just something to think about.

I'm with Dungeon warden on that one. After all, some people would go through the trouble to create a account to "scam" for a max drive...

That had crossed my mind, but I really want to encourage "equality" here, the idea that everyone with RPGM2 and an idea is important to us. For those who aren't doing much scripting yet, they may look at that shiny new Max Drive and feel like they need to give back something in return, and it may be just the push they need to get to work on their game.
This contest will kind of be a "contest for the underdog". People can still send me their memory cards to submit files, so for the people who are truly serious, it shouldn't even be an issue. The other contests will involve real work, and eventually, there will be a game contest. The people who have the best ideas will then be rewarded with prizes (cash among them - which can be used to buy a Max Drive), and the "most deserving members" will get their due.

Just saw your post, Doyleman. It would be hard for someone to be a 3-star member and for us to not know them well enough to tell if we are being scammed. The community is still small enough that ves and I know something about everyone here, and I'm sure that we would be able to tell if someone was scamming us.

Woops! 3 stars only, my bad, i spazed out there ;D. I spose your right. Everyone has posted a little about themselves, and if new members "flew up" like crazy, they wouldn't get very far if they wanted. ;D

No contest this time around, just a drawing. As for the X-Port/Max Drive thing, I can already convert the files. Valkysas has a very handy file converter at the Pavilion, and ever since I began the message board, I have been using it to host game saves in 3 different formats (.xmem, .xps, and .max). No worries there.
To clarify, the first "contest" will be a drawing to give out some free Max Drives, as a "thank you" for ad-clicking and to encourage people to get their games online. Subsequent contests will be on everything from best signature/avatar to best custom camera system. Probably not those two, but I definitely want to have a wide enough range of contests that everyone has a reasonable chance of winning one of them.

I like the idea of having a wide range of contests, but I do think the signature/avatar has very little relation or relevance to RPGM2, our games, or the online community. I like the idea of best story intro and best character (overall) much more. I don't really see a reason to give people Max Drives unless they really can't buy one themselves (like it's unavailable to them, anyone can save up $20 bucks, especially with Christmas so close now). I'd say just save the money for a little while. I know no one has complete games now, but when a lot of people do (which I know may be a long time from now) there'll be a lot of good opportunities for good contests like best rpg, most innovative game, best story, best characters (overall), best non-rpg, etc. It's up to you of course though, so don't take my criticism harshly.

Personally, I'd like memory cards to be given away as prizes. I, unfortunately, only have one, which makes working on multiple games frustrating. Or, one of those keyboards for the PS2, I'm still putting in text the old fashion way, one tedius letter at a time.
