Okay, I contacted Datel by e-mail 2 separate times and they have not responded. I had planned on ordering a bunch of X-Ports or Max Drives to give away in a random drawing, but since they have not responded, I refuse to buy new X-Ports to give away. I have looked around ebay a bit, however, and there a few cheap ones. I have about $130 to put towards these devices, so if I can get a bunch for about $10 each, I should be able to give away 10 of them.
I now ask that any 3-star member who has no file transfer device enter the contest by sending me a private message. I ask that you give me an estimated completion date for your game and also tell me why you need a free transfer device. Just about any reason will do, but if there is someone who really, REALLY could use one for some kind of extreme reason, they'll probably automatically get one.
So let's say I give away 3 to people who really seem to need one, and I then have 7 left, I'll just randomly draw 7 people's names to see who get the remaining ones. DO NOT ENTER THIS CONTEST UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE GIVING ME YOUR ADDRESS. Trust that I will not use it for anything other than sending you your prize.
Anyways, good luck, and any comments are appreciated.

Well, I was going to do that, but then I realized that with shipping, it will cost me about $20 each. So I have a new idea: every time I get a check, I will give away 2 file transfer devices. So please still submit your names, for every time that I get a check, your name will be entered. Click here for a list of contest entries. Therefore, upon the 4th check I get, you could have your name in the "hat" 4 times. Anyways, that should leave me about $100 for some other contest. If you have any ideas what the first contest should be about, let me know. Reply here with your contest ideas, and then I'll have a poll to decide what contest we'll have.

I suggest a contest between the Active CBS games. Even if it's a demo. It would just be cool to see all the ideas people are coming up with and who's is the most/best fun/advanced/well-contolled/speed/gameplay etc... (*regrets giving info on how to make CBS enemies smarter...lol jk, I'ld rather people make games with competant enemies then having games that are extremely dumb and easy)
Oh and how about for those who aren't with the ACBS, have a contest going at the same time for whoever can edit the default battle system the coolest!
*heads for main page to click ads so we can give out even more MAX Drives

I like this idea a lot. Here's what I'm thinking: instead of having a contest this time, we could have one when I get the next check, so that we have about $200 to work with (the money would likely be available in late March). This would give you about 2 months to wrap up a battle system demo. Here's my idea (a modified version of Nash's idea):
Battle Systems will be broken up into 3 separate categories. If one of the categories doesn't get enough entries, I will combine some and pool some prizes together, but anyways, here's what I'm thinking:
Active CBS Modified DBS Other CBS
Those would be the three tentative categories. Each member would be allowed to submit an entry in each category, if desired. There also would be an overall category, where each person could only have their best entry. This is the prize breakdown I have in mind:
For each category: First place: 25 Second place: 20 Third Place: 10
Overall: First place: 25 Second place: 10
Keep in mind that one of the people who win first place for a category will also win first place overall, meaning they'll win $50 total. The prizes will likely be distributed among 9 different people:
1 $50 1 $35 1 $25 3 $20 3 $10
I'm not saying that this is exactly how it would work out, but that would be the likely outcome. Anyways, let me know what you think. This battle system wouldn't necessarily have to be part of your game, but I ask that if you don't plan on using it that you make it available for others to use.
Keep the ideas coming, and let me know if you like this one.

It sounds good since we're all far from creating a full game but are capable of finishing the system stuff soon. Hopefully this'll push me to finally manage to workout everything in my mod of the dbs, which I think I'm only up against DW and TheFinalRune so far, which I like my chances of getting money in, he he he. I like the division of categories a lot though, but we'll wait for more respones. Of course you'd say Action Battle System Demo Nash! ha ha ha just kidding What you may want to do, Doan, is set a date now for a few months later, late enough you'll know for sure the next check will come, or something. That sounds good to me.

I have another idea, but maybe not till a lot later so we all have a chance to work on something. I was thinking about having the best minigame/boardgame/puzzle mini challenge. Who could compile a relatively short game but something that's fun. Like for those that already have mini-games in there games they could use that or make something new. I'm all full of ideas! I also think a good idea to mark this thread, or the official contest topic when we've decided.

Hey, I already released a cool Modified BS. D'oh! Oh, well, I plan on much improving the basic design so it should be much better by the time my next demo comes out.
I'm already working on some cool mini-games for my game; although, I also had an idea for a stand alone game, Mining Tycoon. Man, I wish I could just sit down and program all my ideas into RPG Maker 2 - I know I'd have everybody beat (well, almost everybody) if I could find the time and motivation to work on my game.
Good luck to everyone on the current contest.

If anything, could you start the contest close to or after the end of the contest at the Pavilion? If it's something I'd want to enter, I wouldn't want it interfering with my progress on my Pavilion contest entry.

That's probably a better idea. Perhaps we'll save that contest for another time, and come up with something else. Here's an idea: I'll just put all this money in the bank, and then every month I'll give away 2 Max Drives or X-Ports. We'll then plan out the next true contest when the next check comes in.

Yeah and now Valkysas wants to extend the Pav's contest deadlines, so who knows when. I say we just atleast start the ACBS one or something.
