I've got some bad news. My playstation has started throwing a fit and I can no longer load up RPG Maker 2. Alas, this will cause an unforseen delay in my plans. But, rest assured I am doing all I can to scrounge up money for the repairs and should be back to work by the end of January at the latest. You all have my word that I'll get it working and get that demo out as soon as possible.

I thought I'd tell you what I've learned about PS2's so it may help.
Old PS2's will keep breaking repetedly, even after being fixed because of a design flaw by Sony. It used to be Sony company policy that they wouldn't fix PS2's for the famous 'disk read error', but about 2 years ago they changes and will now fix PS2's 'disk read' error problems for free. However, newer PS2 (newer versions) have this problem permanently fixed and it never occurs. This happened to me roughly 1.5 years ago and I just bought a new PS2 to avoid the hassle. Sony's number is 1-800-345-SONY. The warranty's validity isn't concerned when dealing with this issue either.
That's all. Good luck. Hopefully it'll all turn out okay.

Turns out there wasn't a DRE, but more of a disc scratch error. Curently I'm waiting for my paycheck to come in, as it is now late, and I'm just going to go buy a new copy. I should be back to work be next (not this) weekend.

I just finished MGS3 last night, and I have to say it,
Hideo Kojima is god!
I've never even imagined such a brilliant game was possible! The ending was so moving I actually cried. Snake, on the mission that would earn him the title 'Big Boss' was an engrossing storyline. The scripted events, the subtle and not so subtle humor, all the references to other 'things' and SNAKE vs. MONKEY! I laughed for hours playing that side mission!
This high level of production drives me to do better with my own game. I can only hope I can convey my story with such great skill.

Congradulation on finishing MGS3. I played all the way through twice after I looked at GameFAQs and found out I missed a lot of stuff - including the special camo you can get from the Cobras. Spider (Fear) and Moss (The End) are particularly cool.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I can get back to working on my game. I look forward to seeing what you do with your game.

I asked about MGS3 and MGS2 at the blood and iron boards, and someone said 3's more focused on the gameplay and story than 2 (2 was like 5 hours playing 6 hours story cutscenes - not cool, but 3's not (I've heard)). I'll probably be getting it.

Yes, MGS 3 is way better that MGS 2. Everything comes together - story, combat, and game play to make a great game. It's not prefect (you have limited camera control, for instance) but it is well worth playing. The ending has got to be the best ending in a video game I've seen in a long time. It more then makes up for the sucky ending of MGS 2.

Man, I wish I had something new to tell about my progress, but sadly I've not really made that much. Most the time I spend with RPGM2 now consists of my fooling around with the scripts trying to figure out some stuff. Oh well, I guess nothing ever goes as planned.

I hear that. If it wasn't for all the demos coming out (and William wanting help with his game), I might be a little farther with getting my Dinning Mini game working. All I can suggest is that you set some time aside to work on your game, even if it means giving up something else you want to do. Not that I listen to my own advice.

I've been playing alot of other people's games lately and I've noticedmost so far (since they're really fisrt works or demos) haven't pushed the envelope on terms of graphics. Not that anyone's graphics are bad, I'm not saying that, it's just that thing feel unpolished. I really hope I can script my game as well as the rest of you, but if all else I can promise a well polished graphic presentation. I should have something out soon so everyone can see what I mean by 'polished'.
Also, I'm finally getting back to work on my map editor faq and I hope to have it out soon.
