My favorite's 'My Confession'. 'Remember When it Rained' got me started and is also a favorite of mine. My others favorites are second album #1 (in another language ), #5, #11, #13 and first album #5. I highly, highly recommend 'My Confession' (second album #2). I'm hesitant to say I like it more than any song by Jimmy Eat World, but...

so yeah, i like josh groban quite a bit. i was listening to the kelly clarkson cd today, and im very impressed with it. ive been in a nora jones mood lately, if that tells you why these have risen in preference. There is one song of Nora Jone's that really stands out to me. the ensamble in it is perfect. I dont even remember what its about, just that the music blends perfectly with her style of singing. and i do hate it when my computer is retarded. for whatever reason, when i try to download something, it blocks it. its making me mad. i think it has something to do with the xp sp2 (i finally downloaded it). makes me wonder why i dont use linux. oh yeah, and i do like your banner, will. when i saw it, i was very impressed. it took me a while to download it because of hte above problem.

I like Norah Jones too (and own both albums). ;D I'll have to check out Kelly Clarkson sometime. Edit: The banner came from this picture: www.joshgroban.com/ . Took a while to get everything to look right (I had to draw in some myself), but yes, I was very pleased with it. ;D

i'm sorry, but i just can't listen to "pop" music. now, an exception is when the pop singer plays an instrument cause at least they're putting some effort into their job as opposed to those who have people write their lyrics and just use loops and machines to make music in the background while they make money off of other people's lyrics... ... ... sorry, just ranting... btw, josh groban's not bad, but i wouldn't say he's one of my favorites... -the smurf

categories just lead to confusion and pre-judging. never let the politics of music influence you!

in my opinion, kelly clarkson sounds quite pop-ish. i've never listened to norah jones tho. i don't know much about kelly clarkson enough to have a real opinion, but from what i've heard of her music, she sounds pop-ish to me.
josh groban is definitely not pop, so sorry for the confusion on that. it's mainly people like britney spears, jessica simpson, any boy band, etc that seriously cheese me off, but people like alicia keys and avril lavigne (sp?) are fine cause at least they play music. sorry, another long rant, but this is what happens when i have too much caffeine (sp?) around 9:30...

actually, avril lavigne doesnt play music. she just holds the guitar for looks. and i agree w/ will that we shouldnt throw music into catagories. and i dont think kelly clarkson is pop at all.

When it comes to song writing, song developing, and lyricism, more often than you know the artist had little to nothing to do with it. In the end what matters is how good the song is. It's hard to know who has the brains behind the songs without doing very extensive research. What bugs me with artists is: not singing nor playing an instrument, but rather dancing, butt jiggling, and lip-singing (aka. a fake artist). In other words, the artists that repulse me the most are ones like Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson, etc., aka the -fake- artists. These 'artists' don't deserve any of their success because they are not musicians in any way (singing, instument playing, song creating, etc.). I don't mind people like Justin Timberlake or Jessica Simpson (even though I'm not a fan), because they at least have some talent, whether it be at song-writing/developing/lyricism, or instument playing/singing. Many artists don't create all their music themselves, but as long as they somewhat deserve their success I don't mind. For say, Kelly Clarkson can sing well, even if she can't create music herself (assuming, for example). I've never been a fan of 'the politics of music' (a term I came up with a while ago). This includes lots of things like: caring about what other people think of your musical tastes/fake-tastes trying to produce a certain image based on your musical preferences/fake-preferences saying you -only- like a certain category of music labeling every artist in a real/fake category, regardless of what/how much you know about them caring about that artists public image (thanks to record companies usually) Basically to sum up, be proud of who you are and screw everyone else. -Real- people will find you a lot cooler. (This isn't meant to be all directed to you smurf90, it's just all my thoughts on music as a whole) I know when I was 14 up till now I'd never bring up the category of music with anyone, because most people either didn't care or were immature about it, so I kind of understand where you're coming from smurf90 (since I was once like you, I think). It was funny when this conversation would come up, which it did a lot: (person finds out I play guitar) person - "Cool, so what kinda music do you like?" me - "Do you know of Jimmy Eat World?" person - "No." me - "Hm." ... person - "What are they like?" me - "Jimmy Eat World." person - "I know. I mean what are they like, like what category of music?" me - "Jimmy Eat World." person - "I know that. huh, Like, what other band are they like?" me - "Jimmy Eat World." and eventually they'd give up. It was always pretty funny for me. The bad thing was I often laughed out loud around this time, so I didn't seem like a retard to them because I knew I was being wierd... Fun times.

hey, its cool...i know where you're coming from. maybe its just cause EVERYONE around me is like this. maybe its also the fact that i'm venting about how rock/alternative artists are being pushed aside by Hip-Hop and R&B...well, whatever.
