This was about 20% complete and I wanted to upload a playable demo so everyone could see what was quite possibly, the best lightsaber animation ever made. But I mistakenly overwritten it, because RPG Maker 2 is too good to keep track of what memory card slot you saved on, but not the file's place on that card... poop.
So, I might as well list the game here so everyone could get a glimpse into what I'm [re]working on.
Chou's Prophecy is a game I will make in honor of Michel Desmarquet, author of Thiaoouba Prophecy(I recommend everyone read it, great book, those interested are welcome to ask me about it). No he's not dead, but that book changed my life.
The story
Chou is an old man who has lived through 90 lives, and has retained some of the knowledge of all the people he lived as. The world as we know it, is on a destructive path, with constant war and wrong doing. Taking matters into his own hands to stop this, he passes by and passes his knowledge onto others. He happens to pass by a military base and converses with the main character. In doing so, our main character(we'll call him Virk for now) starts to question his position in the military, and his worth as a person. After events occur that seem peculiar and "too well designed to be a coincidence", Virk decides to investigate into the military, and uproots a conspiracy as a result. The entire story is what's considered a game, with all the characters but one being a pawn. At this point, it's easy to figure out who it is...
The underlying message I plan to convey as an author is one of self worth, the constant deception that we all face, and how much power we have in reality to change our lives.
The game
The game's battle system will be the DBS, modified.
-Effects: enemies will be a bit more lively and attack the party as if they were there and special effects will be flashy, I'm talking FFXI caliber here.
-Weapon skill system: as players level up, they can allocate points to different weapon types - swords, lances, axes and even their bare hands. New attacks will be rewarded at certain point values.
-Traits: players will be able to change specific AI scripts of party members when the auto command is selected.
-Bonus points are rewarded for fighting intelligently. Obtain enough and you'll be able gain extra stat increases upon level up.
-Options: players will be able to customize the options listed to their tastes(for example, the choice to turn footstep sounds off).
-Obtaining items will be a more challenging task than usual, as most treasure chests will be locked in many different ways, including key locks and trivia puzzles.
-A few other little quirks that'll make this game enjoyable and worth replaying.
This game will be long, and difficult. I plan on making it at least 5 hours long.
Of course, feedback would be appreciated. And the game that I was making that overwritten this gem, was a space shooter. I'll probably give it to Rodak so he can play with it.
