alright, this is really frustrating me...how the hell do you make the switches work?! the manual isn't helping. um...i want to use them in later dungeons for stuff, but i just can't seem to figure out how they work. maybe i'm overlooking something, or maybe its just that nothing clarifies it...either way, i'm stumped.
anyone know anything?

edit: from now on, all my RPGM3 questions will go here.

Switches can be set as event conditions, but have no script commands.
In the event conditions page there is a drop down menu, among the choices are "switch #_ is On" or some such option.
Use that.
I'd have to take RPGM2 out of my machine now to find the exact location of the option, and I don't wanna! (But will if you can't find it).
I hope that helps.
Peace.

thanks...i thought it had to be activated from, well, actually i had no idea. so thanks. now, for another question that is really REALLY ticking me off. i have a character, right? this character is an NPC that can be talked to. later, in a stroyteller, the character dies. now, i want to make this character disappear from the map that she's placed in. i thought this would be easy, i thought i could use the modes in the NPC editor...but there's nothing that specifies conditions in the NPC editor! there's no way that i can find to make it so that once this variable (in the storyteller event) is changed, the character disappears. what the hell? i looked in the manual, and obviously found nothing. it may have something to do with internal variables, but there is absolutely nothing in the game nor the manual that even specifies how an internal variable works and how to get to them. so basically, i need to know how to make this character disappear once the variable is changed. -the fuming smurf

that's it? wow, that's probably why i couldn't figure it out. i'm so used to the complexity of 2 that the simplicity of 3 really confuses me sometimes. anyway, thanks. -the smurf

you can say that again... I was like a mouse in a maze when I got RPGM3. I'm still learning some new things from it, but not much. in a few more days; you'll know all that there is to know << Kingdom hearts quote from Ansem hehe.

so, um, i've thought about it and...i still have no idea how to make characters' or maps' internal variables do anything...
am i missing something, or are there no menu options for them in any place other than the event editor?
not that i need this for my game, but it's been bugging me for a while...

During my almost 2 week long affair with RPGM3 I found no difference between the two types of variables... but I did not look too hard.
Sort of a useless response, huh?
Peace.

I just wish you could name them.
Writing them all down sucks.

I wondered what Internal variables dealt with myself, and I've come to conclude that they are just like Shared Variables, but they are permenently built into certain objects. With this, you could have like oh say a Day system in one map be one way, and the other map can work differently. (hard to explain, but yeah...)
anyway, I too hate the fact of no names for variables. My memory is going to make usage of these VERY difficult if I were to lose my notebook.

I mentioned this somewhere, but forget where.
Anyway... I made a Dummy Event that was just text notes telling me for what purpose I used which variable.
I can't lose my notes if they are in the system!
And I lost my notes for The Clean Underwear Quest before I found out that you could rename flags and variables.
So I hit on this solution. I hope it helps.
Peace.

Glad to be of service.
I even have a hidden event that tells me the password to a demo!
Can't ever risk losing that!
Peace.

It was in 2.
I made a transparent turtle wandering around a small unpopulated area with bypass members on and activated by talk.
So you had to know where he was and wander around talking until you find him, then he fades to visibility, goes all spastic (did you ever speed up some of the turtles moves?), and displays the password.
Another bit of fun to keep myself organized.
I stopped using passwords after my first demo though... I am no longer embarrassed by my unfinished content. The Clean Underwear Quest has all my early scripts and really is better off not being seen.
Peace.

Is it just me, or does any one else feel like they wasted their money on this one?
Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but lately I've been feeling that I should have waited about a year or so to buy it, so that it would have been about half price instead of a whopping 50 bucks.
I've actually been spending more time on RPGM2 because I'd be playing three and think, "you know, I can't do what i want here, but I know I can do it with two."
Has that been happing to anyone else?
Maybe its just me. Whatever.

i think this has been happening to everyone i know i feel that 2 is just better overall and i'd rather play that than abide by the limits of 3, but i promised a game on 3 and i'm over halfway done, so i gotta finish it. once that happens...well, it's a good thing i got RPGM3 as a late birthday present. dunno if i'll make any more games for it. so yeah...3 is severly disappointing. -the smurf

I am glad I bought it new and pre-ordered because I really want to see an RPGMaker 4. A good one. And that is the best way I could support Agetec. I predicted a one game wonder from this for me and I will make The Clown Killers. It is one of my most offensive stories ever. And I wrote a collection of poetry about feces called The Book Of Poopies (which shows up in The Clean Underwear Quest). Did you know that the Bellydancer raises one leg over her head and shoots special effects from between her legs? That's Cloaca bottom, my main character. For real anatomical fun, look up Cloaca. So yeah, I will make a simple and offensive game for a simple and offensive system. Then wait and see if anybody else makes something I want to play on it. That will be it's primary use in the future. I really wish XP was 3D. But I will still try to get that around Christmas... or Easter... or sooner... or later... I dunno. Peace.

The simple fact that this topic hasn't seen an update in a week is more than proof that Agetec dropped the ball with this one. How sad.

The "Next Time" is the only reason I bought 3.
I had little, if any, expectations... and it did not even live up to them.
Oy.
