FF5 had the crystals unlock powers of old warriors etc. spirits and gave the classes. It could work if it kind of makes sense like that.

"Each stone is linked to the soul of a specific person, and unlocks a class for that person" sort of an uncanny coincidence, though, isn't it? What did you mean by this, Smurf?

i mean that its a coincidence that all of the "specific people" connected to the stones happen to be in your party.

*(favorite)"12 main characters each with a problem that is solved with a sub-quest or two that is based around them, and is complete with a history, and a resolution of some sort."
Perhaps their ultimate classes could come from this instead of some stone.

I'll definately keep that in mind, Jimmy, that's another good way I could go about the story...
As for the stones, all of the people don't just happen to be in your party, you search for the majority of them and convince them to come along when you find out who it is. There are around 30 characters who join you and only six of them bind with the stones.

Skimpy has had his account deleted. Flaming will not be tolerated, and I have received notice that it is a second account, anyways. If anything like this happens again, someone will be losing both their forum and their main account.

I remember in Zelda: Orcarina of Time they had a similar thing and it worked out cool. To avoid spoilers I won't say, but ask and I'll pm you what it was. I think it'd be cooler if some didn't join you either, Gl

Yeah, PM me, any ideas are welcome. And I don't like Zelda games so it's no spoiler for me.

Finally got a new PS2. Now I can continue after two weeks without work on my game. Definately a relief, feels like I been going through withdrawal.

Today I changed my intro from a black screen with text scrolling down to an action cut scene with a battle and the king talking as the war is ending. Thought it would make it look better, instead of the old NES-style intros.

"Today I changed my intro from a black screen with text scrolling down"
Small world, isn't it? I just did the same thing with my game, only without the whole king, and war thing.

It really does make it so much better looking, although some games might be better with scrolling text if the character has only heard about the events and not experienced them first hand. Then again, that's how mine is and I put an intro scene in anyway.
Haven't worked on Seven Stones in a few days because of finishing up FFT for the third time. Just started going into the Deep Dungeon and beat the first floor, having gotten all the secrets up to that point in the game. Good stuff.

As I promised, I got back to my game for about half an hour yesterday. I would say that I'm getting back into it, finished up the intro (although it has a lot of bugs) and test played to get the feel of what I already made.
More on Seven Stones soon...

As of right now, Seven Stones is playable all the way up to the beginning of a journey away from the beginning town.
I have completed the intro, the first town, a large farm, and a small dungeon. These things are all complete with the things needed to play through the game at this point (complete characters, equipment, items, etc.), although I would say they are all a little "rough around the edges", the intro definately is. I'm about to make a forest in a canyon full of new creatures to fight. Should be challenging and entertaining.

Soon as I get the money to buy a MaxDrive and learn how to use it. Shouldn't be too much longer.

I've been away from RPG Maker 2 for a week or so...
But I do now one question that I need answered eventually. I think I saw this as a thread, but I'll ask it again...
How do you make a compass on the world map?

I don't remember reading that thread. "Is such a thing even possible?" - Apu (The Simpsons).
1) One way you could do it is make a custom camera system so you can keep track of which way the camera is pointing and place a Text Box or 2D VFX on the screen to indicate which direction the screen is facing.
2) If you don't want to use a custom camera, you could use Game Info : Load to get the party's facing direction and use that to display the direction the party is facing.
3) As you may already know, pressing Start in game causes the camera to face north. You could mention this to the player if they need to travel in a certain direction.
