"I got my two lead characters to level 99"
no wonder the final battles were so easy!
okay, so the field battles are yucky. what number should i put in as the ratio? its at 4000 (i think)
i've been pretty busy w/ school, so i havent had a chance to work. i'll try to fix up my game and send in a new version soon.

I would go to the advanced tab of game settings and use the per steps encounter rate so you can set 1-5 steps to 0 (I hate leaving one battle and going into another immediately), 6 - 10 steps 5%, 11-20 steps 7%, 21-50 steps 10%, and 51+ steps 20%. This will greatly reduce the number of battles but still garentee you'll get in battles fairly regularly.
Note: I'm writing this from memory so the step progression might not be accurate, but it gives you the basic idea of what to do.

I believe if you change it in the advanced tab, it locks the other so you can't enter anything (I think there is a check box to unlock it again), so you can leave it as is.

I believe the 'advanced' tab method overwrites the 'custom' tab method too.

i'm almost done fixing up GC.
what i've done is:
-fixed the enemy encounter rate to roughly the figures DW gave me -added a english to larian dictionary to the church in the town of vesi so one can look up words -WAYYY lowered EXP given by enemies
so tell me if i forgot anything.

You lowered the encounter rate and the experience? I hope you play test the game as I suspect now it will be very hard to level up making the game too hard. Of course it one runs around trying to find the skits, leveling might still be possible it will just take a lot longer.
I'll test the game when it's done and let you know. Since you know where the skits are, it will be hard for you to test how much leveling someone would do looking for them.

You also can't count on the player trying to obtain that many/all of the skits. This is why I tend to favor Chrono Cross's way of doing leveling.

okay, so increase the EXP given to around, maybe 30-something for each monster? with the new-and-improved encounter rate...sounds okay maybe. i still have to play test myself, so i'll be doing that soon.

THANK YOU. Man, like DW said, going from town to town was very tedius and annoying.
I can't wait to try the fixed version.

So where is the fixed version anyway? Surely it's not taking you this long to play test the game.
