I've made a grave mistake. In spending 3+ years to develop my game I have become the paradox of a performing artist who spends so much time rehearsing backstage by the time he comes forward the audience has all gone home.
I know that we've all played the games, and sometimes they begin to look the same. I know that when we came to accept this place was winding down we went winding down with it.
Well I've gone and done something that might just be crazy enough to get some of us a second wind; I've designed my own presets called new game +. It has all of the crazy features from Runewind and all of the super memory efficient system scripts, plus a bunch of custom made VFX among other things.
The second part of Runewind is close to being done now. I was surprised at how fast things were moving now that I had all of this stuff done. All I had to do was make new dungeons and direct new scripts, everything else was done. In your case, add changing around some names to the list.
The point is I've done all of the boring stuff here and included enough features that might just give the editor the fresh perspective it deserves. There are still a few new designers out there, I read about one just the other day. Thats when it hit me: The years of boring design work and doing things the wrong way and changing them for memory. Wouldn't it be great to save people that kind of torment?
So maybe, if the word gets out, this (and the tactics battle system someone else is working on) will inspire some people to give things a second go, but this ambition doesn't stop there. If its possible I'd like to give this entire site a second wind. I'm only sorry that I didn't get here sooner.
I could fill pages with the stuff from my games, so I was hoping that one day I could get a forum among the greats. Of course getting the 15 posts won't be easy these days, but I'm not asking for any special treatment here as that wouldn't be fair to others. I would ask one thing though, and that is to include all posts for Runewind part 1, Runewind part 2, and New Game + as they are all the same game, and would have the same forum.
I had thought many others would have come to the same conclusions I have, tried this before, or at least many of the same features I had made, but it appears they did not, because when I presented them to people on the pavillion and rpgmmag they were pleasantly astounded, a lot more so then I had expected.
Perhaps in a couple ways the best has been saved for last. Then again, New Game + is so polished we could start to see games as good and maybe even better.
And beyond that, when the TBS is fully ironed out if he shares the system like I have done here, things could get interesting. I am concerned about his memory though. Using multiple choice for ability selection is bad, as is using text boxes for stats that change. Heh I'm sure if the two of us were to collaborate on a project... no I'm not going to finish that thought.
