Politics and relations between other kingdoms in Runewind Saga:
Overall - There is turmoil involving the death of 100 Paladins, which Paladyne is blaming Arcain for. Because of this Sidon and Arusia have closed the doors to their kingdoms making it impossible for Paladyne to reach Arcain with its invasion force. Sidon and Arusia claim to have closed the doors because of a dispute between their own lands, but they are secretly allies and Arcain has paid them to do this.
1) Farlan - a small land on a small island in the south. Farlan is at peace with everyone and protected by the Raijin Ninjas.
2) Aluria - part of the alurian kingdoms on the island. Home of humans who descended from Fire Elves. They are fair but there is a history of wars with the other kingdoms on their island. They are overall the strongest kingdom on the island.
3) Vegeris - north of Aluria on the island. Vegeris has had a troubled line of kings. They have often fought Aluria over the midland region where a lot of precious ore is found.
4) Temurak - south of Aluria in the cold snowy region. There live a warrior race known as the gray elves. They have a history of being warlike, but today they are few. When they die they return to life just once, because this act also doubles their power they prefer to be strong before dying. Since killing a gray elf makes him stronger others are reluctant to fight them.
5) Aquavadis - The land of Quovadis used to be a labyrinth on the land, but it sunk into the ocean and now resides on the ocean floor. There the sea elves live enclosed in a magic bubble. Other kingdoms have taken an interest this bubble and in ocean floor cities. The bubble keeps water out and regulates pressure.
6) Sidon - Home of the Arena where monsters and warriors fight. It makes so much money there is little need for taxes. The king has a strange fascination with turning things that grow in the ground into monsters. Because of an issue involving the death of 100 paladins they have closed the doors between their kingdom and Arusia.
7) Arusia - the desert kingdom. They used to be ancient Archon, a matriarchal pyramid building race. Since the house of Agamar this turned around and their ways are similar to the Arabs. They share the Shinzu Ninjas with Sidon. There is a problem with necromancy at the graveyard.
8) Arcain - home of democracy. They have a king and queen but these are elected officials. Arcain has both the Slayers and the Fire Ninja at their disposal. When the Paladyne occupation force took Arceus, a town on the other side of the mountain, Arcain carefully snuck them out an underground passage then sent their strongest Slayers to open a path in the Volcano. The Lava poured down killing the entire occupation force and all of the town. The citizens escaped and went to Aslea, a town in Paladyne, where they speak sarcastically of religion and live secret lives of infiltration.
9) Paladyne - The empire, with 3 other cities in its grasp. Paladyne is ruled through the church and commands a powerful army of Paladins. Diadema is home to the biggest port in Runewind with over 15 warships. In Paladyne is found the auction house and many of the worlds richest people live here. There is a big problem with undead in Paladyne and zombies are roaming the streets!
10) Runewind - The wizards of Runewind migrated here from all over and built their kingdom on the side of a mountain to draw mana leaking from the dark world. Their king Xaphan has one of the tomes of power and is the richest man in the world. Aside from a powerful magic barrier and an army of wizards Runewind has the mighty shadow ninja clan at their disposal. There was a period known as the shadow wars in which they attempted to kill and replace world leaders. Xaphan ended the shadow wars when he came to power and his wealth continues to grow. Others fear he will be able to buyout the whole world through money alone.
11) Mythradie - The dwarves of Mythradie used to live in caves, but now occupy a thriving castle. They are mechanically minded and produce many good engineers. They are one of only two kingdoms to have undergone an industrial revolution. The seas are dangerous and there is not a lot of trade of ideas with other lands, especially not closely guarded secrets like these. The Dwarves are known for designing tanks and submarines of which Runewind and Taramura have purchased.
12) Taramura - The land of the Samurai. A water filled land with many small rivers where it is common to travel by boat between shops. They also have the mighty water ninjas to call upon. They are strong, but have a lot of trouble with the dragons in their region. Resources in their lands are abundant.
13) Majere - one of the weaker kingdoms. They are more of a tribe who feel that owning land is wrong, but lay claim to it anyway so that other lands won't. Some lands fear attacking them due to their practice of shamanism and voodoo. They are ruled by a queen. There is a new clan of Ninja called the Muze nearby, but they are illegitimate and small.
14) Talos - home of the main character. This town is completely wiped out by the necromancer.
15) Arrashan - originally a continent full of western themes and pioneers all that remains is a ghost town, but sometimes when you enter it you are sent to the past. When the pioneers went into the mountains they abandoned everyone at home and become trapped there. The folks at home died from monsters. Arrashan built a great kingdom above and within the mountains completely cut off from the rest of the world. They developed technology earlier then anyone else and now have powerful airships. They are considered warlike and will soon bombard the world, feeling ever safe because they are unreachable. The Arrashan feel that they are the superior race and their leader is someone like Hitler.
16) Dagger Falls - Home of thieves. Ruled in anarchy and communism. Its more like a big hippie party here. Stealing is legal if you're a citizen. When a pickpocket attempt fails the thief accepts his defeat and moves on, or else a brawl ensues. They are unfriendly with outsiders and will join together to steal everything from them before they know what hit them. They are hidden in a sea full of islands on the outskirts of Paladyne.
17) Sky Haven - Home of the Sky Elves. They are extremely xenophobic and forbid contact with the ground dwellers. The party is not permitted to learn their true name. They look down on everyone from above. They are enlightened and share their possessions. They live in a valley in the clouds and have had past lives where they lived on the ground. Their knowledge of lore throughout the world is vast. This was the home of one of the main characters, Kesharra Celeste, who dared to leave behind her home and explore the world. Sadly she will not be welcomed home.
18) Tyranna - the name given to any of the various monster tribes united by the dragon lord. Also a town of gnomes in the mountains west of Arcain. They have been working with Arrashan to attack Arcain, who is already having problems with Paladyne.
19) Angrila - found in the dark world. The Angs lived in the anger caverns and were little more then monsters. But some of them started developing intelligence and left the caves to build a kingdom. Those Angs became even smarter. A state of civil war exists between the Angs of Angrila and the Angs who still live in the anger caverns.
20) Pharano - Greatest kingdom of the dark world, filled with a mixture of humans and all dark world races. Their city is 9 times bigger then any found in Runewind, they also rule the small port village Joram.
21) Deimos - split into east and west Deimos and ruled by the castle in the north they form a dark triangle over the land. They are communist and generally do as they please. They use a caste system starting with the stronger demons. They are ruled by a single dictator who is always the strongest among them. They are lustful and festive, welcoming others with open arms.
22) Lunaires - The moon orbiting a gas giant in Runewinds solar system. It is a cold white place with frozen oceans. The only source of food is to hunt slimes who grew out of the frozen oceans and who are composed of vitamins. The Lunars who live here are a telepathic people with a republic and have made roads and cities all over their planet. They developed space travel and now trade meat and other foods with other life sustaining moons including that of the mutants.
23) Pirates Cove - more of a secret place to bury treasures, but all in all a pirate port town. They have devised a way to raid Paladynes fleet by having their women pretend to be captured to trick and seduce handsome knights.
Future Projections: If there is to be a world war it could be any of the major powers. Xaphan's conquest of money, Paladynes conquest of religion, or Arrashans military might. The Alurian kingdoms who lost 2/3 of their armies will likely be attacked. Mythradie is working on ways to stop Arrashan and has a made a super cannon capable of taking down their airships, but they still make airships of their own.
Otherwise: Much of the wars that generally take place are covert operations between the various ninja clans. When the balance of power changes war will often ensue until things are balanced again.
