In my game I'm trying to make each land different. One of the ways I want to do this is to make a couple of different Societies each with their own Social differences. Here is the two I have come up with:
The Elderen: These people are at one with the land. They hate humans because of the way humans use Mother Earth. They feel that humans hurt the land and it's animals. The other main difference is that Farmer are held in high regard. To the Elderen Farmers have a sacred connect to Mother Earth and that is why the earth gives bares food for them. These people are so connected with the land that when they slaughter an animal for food they say a blessing for it.
Riker's Island: This is a group of small islands that house the worlds most dangerous people and the homeless. The homeless where forced here by a King who couldn't be bothered with them. There are no guards on the island, so the prisoners are left to fend for themselves. The highest group on the island is the Ninjas. (The Ninjas found a way to get off the island and find work off the land) They control what goes on. They pay the smugglers, and con artist to take advantage of the Homeless. The con artist promise a better life for the Homeless and they not having much choice accept their offer. Then the Smugglers move the Homeless between the islands. Once they arrive at their destination they are forced to work as slaves.
So what do you think? Any suggestions for different societies?

Amazonian Society: Basically, the roles of men and women (before the Civil Rights Movement) are reversed. The women control the law, have the jobs, get to be educated, fight in wars, etc. and men don't.
Daien/Phoenicis Society: Physical strength is praised and intellectual strength is ignored. Perhaps the leader is determined by a fighting tournament. Their downfall will be caused by their lack of strategy and wits.
Hogworts Society: No one bothers to train physically but instead just relies on learning magic. Perhaps they keep certain spells, doomungus ones, secret out of fear that someone will do horrible things with them.
Goug Machine City/Junk Town Society: No one bothers learning physical combat or magic but instead just relies on the machines they dig up from underground (an ancient people made them) or that wash ashore (someone else on an unknown island makes them and tosses what they don't need in the sea) to fight. Perhaps they gather their smartest people to try and figure out how the machines work but struggle because the machines are very complicated.

Thanks! Those are some really great ideas. I really like the society of magic and the one that only relies on strength. In fact those would make two really great continents. Now I just have to figure out how to work it into the story.
