Here's an obvious question I have not seen addressed in the forums...
With it's Big Fancy Processor and all, does RPGM2 have any better performance in terms of overwhelming the Playstation Hardware and making everything go blurry when too many VFX are on a map?
That is a Hardware issue, and not inherent in the software, right?
If anyone could compare, and report back, I'd be grateful.
I'm in no position to buy a PS3 just yet, but if it improves the performance of RPGM2... I'll start saving!
Thanks to anyone who can research this for me!
Peace.
EDIT: Sorry if this is not in the right forum... I was unsure where to put it!

I see no difference on my friend's PS3 and the motion controller doesn't work for the PS3 on RPGM2. I thought it would but I was wrong. I thought it would increase the performance so I tested stuff that would usually freeze up my PS2 and amazingly it froze just like my PS2.

the PS3 uses hardware emulation to play it's PS2 games. that is to say, it's got the emotion engine chips in there that gets that job done. that's why it doesn't play ps2 games significantly better than the ps2 did, unless you count the upscaling thing.

There is talk of switching to Software emulation in the future. They have already done this in Europe and the rumor is the newest version of the PS3 in NA will also use Software emulation.
One of the problems with software emulation is that many games use the emotion engine processors in a way that's hard to emulate so that some games won't work without special patches for each game.
The means that RPG Maker 2 might work better on the new PS3 or it might not work at all. Maybe with a good patch it could be made to work better. Problem is, since it's not a popular program, making a patch will be a very low priority.

I personally use my PS3 to work with rpgm2 and it is awesome, since it upconverts the image to 1080i, but it still blurs

and of course, RPGM2 will only work properly on the 20GB and 60GB PS3s. the 80GB model with software emulation will lock up during play, and the 40GB model can't play any PS2 games at all.
