Ok, for one, I am not really using RPGM2 anymore, but II just had a brain fart, and I was wondering if this will work. Basically, this will stop the party from following the main character, and allows you to customize your main character easier, maybe. Basically, you make your party 100% transparent. Then, have the model of the main character stay at the same position as the party. Or somewhere close, and just use that as the main character, and when it goes to a cut scene, you can just stop the real character, and keep moving the clone, and there will not be anything really noticeable or hard to do it. Just a random thought, would that work?

I use this trick when I want to be able to move the camera around a cut scene while the party seems to still be visible (it's actually an event [or several events if you have more then one party member]).
I don't see any point in using this idea outside of a cut scene. if you wanted to make the party leader the only character you can see while walking around, you could just make the other party members transparent.

if you want to make it so when you want to leave a paty menber and pick a new one like pokemon game why dont you just make an event and place it some where in town make it so when you pick kick out it shows you the currunt party and you can pick who you want to kick out but (make sure that that alway one person left in the party)any way if you pick the name it dismiss that person and if you pick add(this is for if you want more than 4 party member) when you have 4 party menber kick one out first then in the add one option it show the etc party menbers and when you pick one it adds that person to the party.
sorry im in a hurry to write this.

Im not sure what you exactly you were thinking.
If you want more room between characters make their models smaller. 80-90% is a good size.
If you want them transparent, use the display leader option.
If your having camera issues, make walls that are transparent on their back side. This way in 3D settings you can turn the camera any which way and see through which ever side would block the camera.
If only games like WoW and Neverwinter Nights had the sense to do this....
Some other ideas:
Make a vehicle thats transparent and put the leader in the vehicle. This allows you to increase the partys run speed with a move ability that loads up the vehicle, but it will only display the leader.
Replace members with Events: you can turn on display leader and replace party memebers with events that look like them that sort of follow or even just randomly move around.
