******************************************* Edit by Doan: This is an old post from when I first started giving members their own forums. I dug it up and I'm now re-stickying it so that there is no question what the requirements are for receiving your own forum. Simply replace "Our Created Games" with "RPGM2 Creative Development" and "Our Games" category references with "Game Forums" and you should be able to understand everything that's being talked about in these posts. ******************************************* You may have noticed that this forum's name has changed to "Our Created Games", and I moved my forum down to the "Our Games" category. I'm doing all this with an idea in mind, and I hope you all like it and appreciate it. HolyFlame had suggested a way to reward people who post a lot, so I will create a forum for each member who meets the following two conditions: You have started topics (about your game) in this forum that have generated a combined 15 replies or more by other members You are a 4-star or higher member. If you meet those two standards, I will create a forum for you in the Our Games area where you will be a moderator. You can do whatever you want in your forum as long as it is not illegal. There is, however, a stipulation. Your new forum is designed to be an area where you can discuss your game, and because of that, you will only be allowed to have one topic about your game in the Our Created Games forum. Once you have your own forum, all of your current started topics will be moved to that forum. You will be allowed to create one new topic about your game in this forum that is designed to direct attention to your other forum. Other topics, such as general questions about everyone's games, will be allowed to remain here. For example, let's say you have 3 topics with 5 replies each from other members, and you are a 4-star member. I will move your topics to a new forum where you are moderator. You will then be allowed to create one topic in the Our Created Games forum, something to the effect of: "I have posted some new information on my game today. Please check it out." Double posts will be allowed in this topic since it will be used for bumping. You will also be allowed to start topics such as, "Is there any significant symbolism in your game?" Any questions, go ahead and ask them here. I trust that I will not see foul play as a result of the above rules. Hope you like the change, Doan the Nado

AMP, at this time you do not have a thread that has recieved 15 or more replies. your almost there, but you need a few more. keep in mind that your replies in a thread you create do not count toward this goal. i think you need just a few more.

Ves is right, AMP. Your two topics in this forum currently have a total of 14 posts by members other than you. I'm not trying to be a Forum Nazi, but I do have to stick to the rules that I create. I'm sure that you will get one more post in no time, and since you have expressed a desire to have a forum, and since you are a 4-star member, as soon as you get one more post, I will create a forum for you.
Just please don't beg for a post,
Doan the Nado

Sorry, I thought I was eligible already. Well, I'll be willing to wait for a while. It's not a major issue if I don't get one right this minute. It's cool guys, I understand that you have to go by the rules you set.
Thanks,

A very nice offer indeed. And yet, another one that I can't really take advantage of, what with me having my own forum at the Mag. But, at least others can take advantage of these offers.

Here's an idea for everyone (AMP), just make one topic, then for each time you have something new to discuss about your game, change the topic title, edit the first post, and post a post at the end (thus thereby making one "topic" of yours cover multiple topics of yours). I plan on doing this since it's the only way to achieve this probably (for me).

You don't have to do that, William. You can have multiple topics for your game, and ALL topics that you start in this forum count towards your total. It's better to have multiple topics, because then when I move them all to your own forum, you will already have a few things to start with and your forum will look less empty.
After I move your topics, you will be allowed to have one topic here to do exactly what you said... announce when you have posted new material to your forum. For example, AMP has begun two separate topics. His "KNIFE FIGHT" topic has seen 3 replies from people other than himself. His "My Battle System" topic has seen 11 replies from people other than himself. This means he has a total of 14 replies towards his total of 15, and with one more reply in either topic, he will be able to have a forum of his own.
To AMP, don't hesitate to post in one of your topics to try to generate interest and to get another post. You could even start a new poll and ask a question about your game, as that is sure to generate a reply. I just don't want you to post something that says, "Please reply here so that I can have a new forum!!" Everything else is fine to do.
I think I've come up with some fair rules, and if there's anything that anyone thinks needs to be changed, feel free to let me know.
I hope that clears some things up,
Doan the Nado

I edited the top post. As ves has said, once everyone has their own forum, it would be nice to have this forum remain as a general development forum, where we can offer advice and get some general information on each other's games. While you will still only be allowed to have one topic in here that directs attention to your forum (once you have one, of course. Otherwise, you can have as many as you want), ANYONE can start topics in here that have a more general tone, such as topics asking about everyone's intro scenes.
For example, it will be perfectly fine to have a topic here that says, "What is everyone's intro scene like? In mine..." as long as the focus is on sharing ideas and not on specifically promoting your game. I hope you guys understand my intentions: once you have your own forums, there is no reason to have topics all over the place about your game. It is fine, however, to plug your game here and there while getting general info on everyone's games, as I said above.
Again, if there are any questions, go ahead and ask. Also, if you have a topic in your forum that you would like to be moved back here (I know William has a few topics that would fit fine in the new-look "Our Created Games" forum), let me know and I'll be happy to move them.
So to sum it up, once you have your own forum, you will still only be allowed to have one topic about your game here which is intended to direct attention to your own forum. You will still, however, be allowed to post general information on game creation.

Nope, actually, it's up to you. You're allowed to make any kind of post you want in your forum. I was just extending that offer since the rules changed a little bit.

Doan, does it have to be in the RPG creative Development forum only, for my own forum or can it be from other topics I started? And do you know how many more I need to get my own? ^_^ auvoir

It still must be in the Creative Development forum. Getting enough replies in your topics in this forum indicates that people are interested in your game(s) and game ideas. Usually that kind of interest only comes when it seems that someone is really serious about their projects. Only then do I feel that a forum is justified.

Finally... Well, my Screenshot and mpg File Service has wound up causing me to show up as staff over at the Pavilion, and with the upcoming release of the first draft of the Unofficial VFX Editor Guide I have reached a decision. I think I would like my own forum after all. Can't be staff there and not here... I have so many projects at this point that it might be nice to have all the threads in one place. There is no hurry on this. It would be great to have it ready for the VD release of the First Draft VFX Guide {VD is Valentines Day} ... {Yes it is!}. Here is a list of 6 threads I would like moved there if it is not inconvenient: The Clean Underwear Quest BUGS IN MY UNDERWEAR!mpg files from The Clean Underwear Quest! Videogamedrome Demo The Second Videogamedrome Screenshots/Video Demo! MPEG format Official VFX Editor Guide / FAQ In The Works! I need to make a banner! And now for the Grand Finale: I need a name for the Forum... I was going to use a sacred word that is used for top secret stuff, but then it would be bottom secret! So, it is either Long Hair Games or Fluffy Kine (Kine is an archaic plural of Cow), or a simple "MOO!" (Hey, at least I'm not going with Pancreata Productions) (Pancreata is the plural of Pancreas). I think "MOO!" has the lowest confusion factor. So it's my first choice... unless I can make a cool flower - power style psychedelic banner, then it'll be Long Hair Games. I'm not particular, so if you have time to make it, just use "MOO!" unless a banner exists by that time. I was thinking of asking that Stop Motion Animation be moved there too, but I have a better idea. I mentioned this in Bigfoot's Pencil Drawings thread and I think it deserves consideration. Perhaps we should create a forum for member art. It could have the above mentioned thread, DungeonWarden's Animation thread, my Stop Motion Animation thread, and more. I recall Nash posting some Nashimation and I am sure we have more closet artists we can provoke into sharing some of their work if such a forum existed. Maybe make a poll question if you are unsure of the idea. It would show if there is interest. I don't think that was off topic as this is the place for suggestion s, and that's another plural! And for an encore, I think "#FEDBCA" is a nice color for my user name's new personality (forumitized). It's a sort of peachy color. Peace. <><><> EDIT: <><><> Bigfoot convinced me with a PM. Go with Long Hair Games. I'll make a Psychedelic Banner. Gotta go make 1960's Hippy Imagery...

Actually, I name all forums with a generic format: yours would be The Forum of Rodak. You can see examples in the Forum Jump thing at the bottom of the page. The way banners work (these are not normally ProBoard supported options) is that I wrote a javascript which goes through and looks for text "The Forum of Rodak" in the title field of a forum, and when it finds this text, it replaces it with an html img tag to insert your banner. You can make your banner to say whatever you want it to (as long as it's not profane or anything), and you can even have a few different banners that you change between. Once you get a banner uploaded, just give me the http address of it and I will add your Forum Text to the list of "Titles to be replaced" in the javascript I wrote, and it's all automatic from there. So let's say you upload a banner to www.freeimagesite.com/rodak/banner.gif. If you want to change your banner, you would just create your new banner and upload it to that same address (banner.gif), and when someone's browser goes looking for your forum banner on freeimagesite.com, they would be met with your new banner. It's really quite simple and convenient, and substantially lowers maintenance on my end. The only requirements I have is that your banner must have dimensions 450x45. So yeah, I'll go create that forum for you and move your posts there, and once you get an image uploaded, you can PM me with the address of the image and I will get your custom banner up and running.

Thanks Doan!
That's what I call Super Service!
I'll have a banner in the next day or 2. You know us finicky artists... I may get it on the first try, but I doubt it.
Peace.

Oh yeah, I just changed your name color, too. Thing is, it doesn't look too peach against the "off-black" background, so if you want a slightly different color, just let me know. If you're happy with it, well, no worries then.

It is a bit different then when I used it in an HTML document as a BG Color with Black text.
I'll play around and let you know at the same time as the banner URL. Kinda conserves effort that way.
Thanks again!
Peace.
