Well, lately Ive been feeling very helpful. So I decided to go ahead and do the Custom Menu System guide, on the "How To's" of a menu setup. Now, keep in mind do not try this if you don't understand what you are doing, because it gets pretty complicated and complex at some parts. Also does anyone want anything in particular for the menu? So far I got the following to show you how: Using Items from the database, Healing members with magic, Equipping your party, saving, and whatever you would like also.

I haven't even figured out the "equipping your party" or magic elements yet, so I would be interested in seeing what you have done with that (it's not that I can't, I just never quite got that far). This is an ambitious project that should be well-received by those who are constantly wanting to make their game a little more custom.

First of all, Why were you up until 5:00 last night...?
Second, I think, unless you have the videos be about 30 mins each, Videos would be too much. I think steps would be best and would depend more on the skill of the game maker. It would also probably be easier on your part and a video might have bad quality or you might not get a section to be clear enough to be seen.
There's my 2 cents.

What do you mean up till 5 o'clock last night? And the videos are to explain the steps and they are around 10-15 minutes a piece.

I would definitely be interested in seeing a CMS guide as well, since I don't know much about making one.

I think the videos will take up less time, but be a little harder to use. It'll also be harder because you will constantly have stop the video so you can create part of the script.
PS: I mean you posted the reply on here at 5:01 AM. I just want to know If you stayed up or what... Actually, I just am curious.

Oh, no. I wake up around 5 to get a shower and whatnot before school. And don't worry, I have this all figured out. Im deciding on just pictures that way you get an idea, cause you've got a point. Plus I made one that was 30 minutes and it took like 2hrs to upload, so ill just have pictures for each step.
EDIT: SITES BEEN UPDATED!

I like where this guide is going. It seems detailed and easy enough for a beginner to use. As long as you got it all planned out, than use the pictures. It will be easier to use pictures too I guess, kind of like nash did with his zelda guide.

Exactly. Oh? You think its in detali? Well at the moment im doing a rough draft. Cause a lot of this stuff I forgot how to do, like the equiping weapons, I might leave that out, cause its a little too difficult. Same for magic.

*bummed that one one looked at the scripting FAQ * I discussed a flexible CUSTOM custom menu in my battle system topic at gamefaqs, I'll see if I can find it if that helps. When you equip weapons, you have to basically use a sort and do it manually. I think there's a command to do it on the targeted party member instead of an individual.

Yeah, well if all else fails, I have it so people can equip custom items if they want. But yeah, if you can find that that would be great.

AWESOME!!! ;D I was just thinking too. Would it be possible to have the custom look with the default menu? (just wonderin') And yeah, I agree with Doan that TONS of people will LOVE this, I think.

Well, no cause we can't call the DMS from a script or what not, but.....I think I found a way to give descriptions like it does for the DMS, its a little trick with classes.

This would be super-duper-pooper freakin' awesome, but I know from my CBS-out-of-the-DBS Guide (that's pretty much what it is... *sigh*) I know how much work and how long it would take to make something like this. The difficult thing is that to do a good job on the guide you not only have to do this yourself, but also understand everything you've done perfectly to where you could walk someone through what you've done from beginning to end. It's the difference between this: doansdomain.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=williamkirk&action=display&thread=1111985298And this: doanthenado.com/files/DBSGuide.pdf(which it's also important to note: I haven't/might not ever finish it) But if you did, of course, I'm certain TONS of people would make CMS's in their games and be super-duper-pooper zealous about their CMS's.

If I do, I need to get back with RPGM2 cause I haven't done any real hardcore scripting in a very long time. (Decemberish?)
