I began my newest creation just over a week ago, and I am pleased to say that I am very happy with my progress so far. I don't want to give too much away, and for that reason I do not plan on putting out any demos. I also do not plan on giving a detailed update on my progress. I will merely say this:
I am making a game that consists of basically a collection of games. I am not sure what games, nor how many there will be, but you can be sure that there will be a sort of progression, where you acquire new games, unlock bonus levels, and in the process, advance in the "shell game" that encompasses the entire thing. If that sounds confusing, good, because that is about as clear as I want it to be.
I do not have this game very well-planned, but the beauty of this project is that it doesn't have to be. Right now I am simply taking one game at a time, making a sample level, and then working on a game engine for that game which can be easily applied to all levels. In this way, it will be very easy to expand the games once they are all in place by simply building new levels.
I will give a little more info about the games: some will be classic games, some will be internet-inspired, others will be based on board games, and still others will be completely original. I have a few scraps of ideas here and there that I will combine into games that will be not necessarily visually stimulating, but should be fun to play regardless.
As for the "shell game", I plan to go all-out with that and try to make some great cutscenes and good environments. That's all I know for now, however, because I don't know exactly what I'm doing myself, as I said before. I will detail my progress in a strictly numerical fashion so that you can see how I am doing so far.
Current Progress:
Shell Game: 0%
Total Games: ? (1 in progress)
Classic Games: ? (1 in progress)
Internet Games: ?
Board Games: ?
Original Games: ?
Total Games Status: 2-3%
Overall Status: 1%
Yeah, so it doesn't look like there's a whole lot right now, but none of those numbers are concrete at this time. Whenever I get a chance, I will continue to post my progress so that both you and I can see where I stand.
