I won't. I think there is still stuff to be accomplished using RPGM2, so that is what I am going to do.

You need to buy a Japanese PS2 to play Japanese games - unless you want to risk modiflying your PS2. I like what the new game can do, but I think RPG Maker 2 can do some amazing thinks as well. The new one might be easier to use, but it is also far more limited as well. If an English version came out in the future I might pick it up, but right now RPG Maker 2 is all I need.

Actually, modding your PS2 is not dangerous(if done buy a professional - ask around, somebody know one), but it will completely negate all warrenties that cover your PS2.

RPG Maker 2 is enough for me right now. I still don't think RPGM2's potential has been reached, and it is a very powerful development tool. It may be time-consuming to use, but it is so versatile.

i think rpgm2 hasnt been anywhere near wore down. most people havent finished their first game, and some of the better programmers in the community are still fighting w/ the defaults. and importing is too expensive for me.

Nope, the only possible translation would be if Agetec brought it here. Or, some similar company, but most likely Agetec.
I won't be importing it for certain. For one, it's in Japanese. For another, nobody would be able to play the games I make on it. Lastly, this has a high chance of coming here. It's ease of use (and somewhat limited features it seems) means it would be much easier to localize it, so Agetec bringing it over seems pretty likely to me.

Agreed. I could be happy with RPGM2 for at least another year and a half or two, as I haven't really had enough time to do anything revolutionary with it yet.

If Agetec has the same translation problems they had with RPG Maker 2, I would be at least two years before we get it. Since there has been no anouncement beyond a hint that a new RPG Maker is comming to North America, there is no way of knowing when or even if the game will come here. I'm happy with playing RPG Maker 2 right now. It will be a long time before I finish my game, especially at the pace i'm going The next RPG Maker would have to be something amazing for me to even consider picking up until my current game is done.

Absolutly, I want the new game they're making, but right now I'm trying to put all my energy into completing my game.

Yeah, I don't want it to turn out like the yearly sports titles: start a franchise, play a few seasons of it, new game comes out, start a whole new franchise, etc. I'd rather have this game for a couple years and do a lot with it before I go out and get something new.

Yeah, I know for sure my two games are going to be on RPGM2. I'd pick it up if it came and maybe make some simpler game on the side, but not stop Paladin and the prequel on RPGM2 and start making them on that.

the reason RPGM2 took so long to get here was because agetec was helping enterbrain make it, and they started over like 3 times before settling on the system. then there were other problems I cant talk about, and then David Silviera (who is now in charge of the RPGM series) came back to agetec after years of being gone, and got RPGM2 translated in 7 months.
hail dave.
and if this does come here, it wont be until 2006, I can guarantee it. agetec doesnt want to screw over the RPGM2 users.

Other than the scenery, the box art for the most part didn't deceive(unless you were expecting something more, then that's your fault). I probably won't be importing it, like I was going to do for RPG Maker 2(once I heard about how the scripting was I backed out, doing it in english was bad enough). So far, it just seems easier to use and that's about it. Hopefully that's not the case.

I don't get what the big fuss is. I used RPGM1 a lot too, and it had TONS of limitations, where as RPGM2 has barely any (except graphics, but even then there's the building trick and VFX trick, and event proportion changing). Looking back on my days planning my game before RPGM2 came out and planning what was known to be possible in RPGM2 at the time and what was possible in RPGM1 compared to my planning now, is just very, I dunno.

It looks like the warrior and old man (and maybe the dwarf) are facing off against the Death (and maybe the skeleton). You can't do that (having your party shown facing off against monsters instead of just the first-person view) without knowing how to edit the DBS a good amount.
