With a world background solidly in place (but still slightly modifiable), I think it's time to start on the characters. Read the background here and then do the best job you can to come up with a main character. We will vote on the main one (or perhaps a few other ideas may work) and then we will try to work them all in as secondary characters, as well as make some other ones. This should be the project that everyone can help on the easiest, so let's get creative.

"One ally of the main character's is a whatever-doer in battle (mage-fighter-etc., probably healer/mage makes more sense). He/she has been fighting for this (group) for a while and recently has joined up with the main character. The main character doesn't know, but he/she's been pretty ill for a little while but is still fighting because he/she wants to do what he/she can to help their (group) in this time of need. The player sees a scene with another character (perhaps at an inn or something) where the other character sees him/her cough up blood and asks him/her why, and he/she tells the other character about her illness and desire to still help nonetheless. Later he/she dies from the illness (and out of nowhere for the main character). If the main character is in the invading country he'd probably want to create an era of peace and be vengeful to his own country for invading after this, and if he's in the defending country he'd probably be real pissed off at the invading country."
I'll have to think about it some more and maybe post another.

Man, I have so many character ideas, it's hard to pick from them all. How about:
A dwarf cleric lives in the nearby mountains. He never leaves his home and knows little about what is going on in the world (it is always good if the player can learn about the world as the character's do). Due to falling into a firepit as a child, his beard won't grown in and he is considered a freek by the other dwarves. He went into the healing arts to find a cure for his alment, but none has been found.
One day a seer in the tribe had a dream that some great evil would soon fall upon the land. He also predicted that the dwarf cleric would leave the caves and find a solution to the problem. The King asked to dwarf to go into the world and find out what is happening and find a way to protect the clan.

I'd like to see all of the people involved in the collaboration project get their own NPC in the game. Everyone could post their preferred character model and color maps and Doan could put each of us somewhere in the game, with each character getting credit for their involvement in the project.
Just a suggestion, but since this is an everybody game then I think everybody should be in it personally.

I have a character idea just for a silent knight.
There was a knight who had no name, he was mostly quiet among people. He lived his life in silence while others live their lives with others. He became a knight to slay demons to pay for his living conditions. The training was vigourous, he would train his body to handle extreme temperatures for the normal body. he could go into freezing temperatures that would kill a normal man. He is an honorable man, a man of few words.

Not to sound rude, but it may help if you could add some possibilities for how your character might join the party or what part of the story he might be involved in. It's gonna have to be done eventually, and it can act as a check beforehand.
Say for example Dungeon Warden's Dwarf. He could be part of a group that seperated from a region and chooses to live underground, away from everyone else. When the king sends him out, he runs into the party. He then causes a rock slide and saves the party from the army that was chasing them. He joins the party after each side explains explains their situation. Maybe the seer could help a bit on the plot point for him joining and deciding the party is in the right.
Anyhow, that was just an example. Knowing how the characters join will help a lot with the story (and the characters themselves).

I don't know, but about 5 years ago me and some others were making an online story of a sequel to Chrono Cross at the gamefaqs forums (much like a collaberation project), and it did help a l o t when people posted how their characters were involved in the story and when/how they appeared as party members or enemies. I looked at mine and it looks as though mine could be in the team to begin with or added as an ally on a mission (like Seifer and Zell join in FF8).

It seems most everyone has unfortunately lost interest, and it also seems that I will be away from RPGM2 and the community for some time as I get my personal life back in order. Sorry about that, guys.

Um, if you can't do this Doan, then maybe some one else can take it over?
I'd volunteer, but I suck at anything not graphic related.
Maybe one of our fine quallified members would care to take on this task.

Anyone who wants can pick this up, because it would be a shame to see a good, collaborative effort go to waste.

you could make your characters based on real life or your friends and family.

It would be awesome if the allot of the characters in the game are members of your domain. Then when we play it we can recruit ourselves... Just a thought.

so, here we go: (this is a character idea that i have had in mind for a long time, and actually have a character developed to fit this idea, so i wont be giving you that character, but the generals of what he is).
so, you have a secluded monastary, where many monks go through thorough trials before they are designated displined enough to practice in the outside world. the final is that, in order to learn the importance of communication with their peers, as well as the importance of understanding others, they must become silent to all of their peers. when they are capable of conveying thoughts and feelings without any sort of statement or action (they must make themselves completely transparent. readable. i hope you get what im saying) to their peers, as this is the deepest sign of trust, to allow someone to constantly have access to your inner most being, and this is necessary among the monk brethren. once they have accomplished this task they (either must go into the world silent, or are forced by oath to speak only an ancient tongue no one understands) and go out into the world. they must find one person (perhaps the most unlovable/evil of persons) and build the same bond with them as with their brothers of the monastary. when this bond of companionship is built between the two, and a sacrificial love (like not a homosexual love, but like a 'band of brothers' love. one where they are willing to give their lives for their counterparts well being). then and only then is the sacred oath lifted, and they are allowed to don the robe of monk/priest hood.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
what do you think?
i think it could make for some interesting plot twists, stories, and other things. also, if the motives are in question, the monk can never achieve the goal (bonding) solely for the sake of achieving priesthood. all 'self' motivation has to be removed.
so yeah, i think this would allow for some interesting adventures.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ive always wanted to play this character in a dnd game, but i can never find one that emphasizes character development and role playing enough to try it. so let me know what shortcomings this character has to you.

i have an character idea which is based from my own mind in which i believe that i'm going crazy. My mind must be insane, i'm having visions of the future and about the destruction. It's almost like deja vu, lately i have been having visions in my sleep disguised as dreams of what would exactly happen to me. To day on saturday morning i went to a local store and almost got ran over by a horse. I stop and thought about my dream, but then thought it was just a coincidence. After months and months i have tried to understand of what meaning are these dreams or visions. I just put it to my mind that I was going to not pay any attention to these .....visions. Until it hit me one day, when i went to a resturaunt and i had to use the restroom. I went there and saw a strange man coming from the bathroom. Once i went in i took a leak. Sighed and look down there was a pamphlet. It looked like a small comic book but it was very strange. It was called the one who will save us. I gazed through it and saw nothing of interest. Seemed to be a religious book so i just put it in my pocket. It was in each toilet room and only on one stall. I washed my hands and exited. after a couple of hours i bought a news paper and there it was the government all of a sudden talking about the anti-christ. thinking to myself I too have recntly seen something on that subject. I reached into my pocket and there it was an short comic book about the anti christ and how it will chagnge the world. For a second there i was suprised but I had no idea of what will become of me when i was about to discover the truth. Years after that incident a war broke out. I was the only one to know exactly when it was to happen. I have been fighting for months. I should've prepared, oh well i can't make up things from the past. 10 years went on and this war never ended. Me and my friends started to create a town that would train kids who wants revenge for their loved ones. break.
