So, everyone knows the big white elephant is coming, question is what are you going to do about it. I've already bought my copy, paid in full and ready to receive, that is, whenever it eventually comes out. So far all Agetec will give me is August 2005. I'm hoping for an early in the month release, but I guess any time soon would be good considering the year+ in delays RPG Maker 2 took to finally release. God I'm psyched, I loved RPGM1 and with this effectively being a revamped hopped up on fantasy steroids all in the glory of 3D delight, I'm sure I'll love it too.

*sigh*
despite what ebgames, gamestop, and random game sites say, RPG Maker 2 was only delayed once: from september 10th to October 28th. the other dates were made up by stores to get more pre-orders, so they dont count.

I'm still undecided. I know this one is really gunna piss me off with how limiting it is. I need complexity and lack of limits...*sigh oh well...we'll see

I would like to get RPG Maker 3, but if it's as limiting as they say, it might not be worth bothering with. However, If the preset stuff is really good and people start praising how wonderful it is, I will definitely get a copy. So far I'm undecided and plan to wait until the game is actually out..

I will get it primarily because I do not have RPGM1, and want to know what it's like to have an "easy" (even if limiting) system with which to make a game!
I am used to utilizing stuff in unintended ways and look forward to finding nifty tricks on a new system. I've only had RPGM2 for about 7 months and most of the tricks I "figure out" are old-hat to many folks here. It will be nice to "get in on the ground floor" with a new system.
Peace.

Wow, I didn't know that! Damn evil stores tearing at the hearts of unsuspecting gamers!

I think it's safe to say that there's plenty of people interested in it. Even those that don't have particular high hopes for the tool.

Although I am a little nervous about losing a lot of the customization abilities, the graphics look pretty damn good. I don't like the graphics of RPGM2 at all, but there's a limit to how much I would trade for graphics alone...

i finally decided i'll get it. now my only decision is:
do i make the "third" chronicle game on 2 or 3? i'm guessing 2, but if 3's graphics suit the storyline of the third game (no, i don't have a storyline yet), then there's a possibility that 3 might win...

edit: k, i just saw on amazon that the release date is august 15, 05...can anyone confirm this? can anyone tell me otherwise? i don't wanna get my hopes up, but...

I scouted around and found no released date info yet from either Agetec or the Pav other than sometime in Aug. 2005, so I wouldn't put any faith in the 15th just yet.
Once Agetec has a confirmed release date Valk will surely be the first to let us know. Keep your eyes on the Pav for more news.

Well, I don't know. With all the talk of how limited RPGM3 is, I don't know if I should get it. Well, for the game I'm working on now, it will definitely be on RPGM2.
Dunno if it's a good idea. I'll just listen to the opinions of everyone who gets it before I decide on buying it. I have a lot more non-video game related plans with my money, so I'm not going to buy it until I'm completely sure.

it seems like this is more for a story-oriented game, rather than a game where one develops custom systems and things.
you get a mode similar to the skits in Tales of Symphonia where there faces of the characters can talk, and *i think* you get 4 or so different types of faces for each character, plus i think 4 different color schemes for each sprite (monsters, too). so its not like they only have one color.
but i doubt that you get the same flexibility with the menu system or battle system, so as long as your cool with the turn-based...
the game was designed to be easy for people with no experience, as well as those who, as many so delicately put it, "suffered" through RPGM2. so the focus was not on options, but simplicity.
i'm sure everyone is aware of all this already.
anyway, as long as it gives *some* flexibility, which it seems like it does, it should be a decent game.

And this is perfect... my ideal rpg maker sits here. This is pretty much a RPG maker 1 2... I cant wait for it!! I'll sell rpg maker 2 and my other prized games for it since i know my family wont be able to buy it for me..

wait, if your selling your RPGM2, should i cancel the X-Port delivery? I'd say just hold off on selling RPGM2 until you atleast try some of the games people here have made.
Either way, 18 more days, woohoo!

So, with only seven short days remaining and tons of new info coming out, has anyone changed their mind about the release and purchase of this new title?
I'll admit that some of the new info has me feeling a little sketchy about the potential for this game. Hopefully is just those pre-release butterflies, but I don't know for sure.
Regardless, I've still got it already paid for and with my current stretch of unemployment, at least that is comforting.
Seven days and counting...
