Would you have camped out for a ps3? I've seen bids for 1.5k-250k dollars. Would you have for that money?

[white]I never buy new systems till they have been out a year or more. Which means I need to go pick up an xbox360 sometime in the near future. Hrm. [/white]

First off waiting a year is good anyways. This gives them time to work out all the bugs. Second, Im not wasting 600-700 bucks on a game console.

The only reason that I could understand people doing this would be to turn around and sell them online for a huge profit.

I was in New York today and there was a huge line to the video game store. I thought it was going to the Soup Man's shop (the one from Seinfeld) at first, though. Turned out they were all waiting for Wii.
Even for the Wii, it still isn't worth it. I'll wait a couple months before buying the Wii. I'll never buy PS3 under the current circumstances.

You realize that all the bids going over 1,000 are fake, right? People angry at the scalpers are placing fake bids so the seller has to pull the auction down.

You could of still made some decent money from it though, down in my little hick town we had only 6 ps3s at our walmart and one of the spots was sold to a guy for a little over 1000 dollars so the kid went home with close to $2k by saving his 600 and selling his spot. its a nice chunk of change. also, i just don't think they all are, I have a friend that bought a Xbox 360 and sold it for 2k last year. I know some are real.

[white]Honestly I find that purchasing any system, short of the Wii, on its release day would be stupid. Both Sony and Microsoft have notorious track record for having buggy and broken machines available at the launch date.
The only reason some one would spend four days in line just to blow a grand on a new console and some new games would be because they have a serious case of the "me firsts" and its warping their minds. I love both the playstation and the xbox. But, when I feel like playing either I usually just go hit up a gamestop or a walmart and play some of the demos they have set up.
It just seems ridiculous to wait in line for something that has a track record of having faulty machines, about 5% usually, in their initial release. I just can't see taking the chance of waiting six days to spend a lot of cash only to wait another three months to get a replacement for my broken console.[/white]

I sure wouldn't. Despite only having a few bucks to my name, I'm not patient enough to wait that long in the cold for a game system.... Plus, I'm not getting a PS3 until Kojima tells me to.

The Wii isnt without it's own problems. some people's consoles are unable to connect to the online service no matter what, and when some download the first system update, the console stops working completely.

That sucks.
Hopefully, that problem will be fixed when I buy mine. (I'm waiting some time after Christmas to get it)
