So, my parents want me to write out my wish list soon and I've been thinking of getting a classic PS1 RPG. So, which one would be the best choice? If you have any other suggestions, use the 'Other' choice.
BTW, I heard that FF Tactics is like $30-50. Is that true?

actually, all of those are excellent. I loved grandia 1, and while star ocean was a bit monotonous, it is the first game i played with the active battle system incorportaed into a party environment (a la .hack and kingdom hearts). I like final fantasy tactics because of its complexity, and great story line though. but, since i'm torn between grandia and fft, i didn't vote. this seems to be a trend for me in polls. could it be that i'm just indecisive?
edit: oh yeah, chrono cross was good to.

good luck finding xenogears, i remember hearing about some going on ebay for like 100$ and that was a few years ago, maybe i'm wrong but i think thats what i heard. FFT & CC are both great games but are pretty different, it depends on what kind of game you prefer. FFT is a strategy game, combat is pretty slow moving and difficult, some battles can take multiple tries and lots of planning, and the story is more reality/war based, a great game but can take serious patience. CC on the other hand is a more FF like, the story is not quite as deep, and neither is the battle system, but its still a fun game with interesting characters and mutliple endings, also have you played chrono trigger?
wow... sorry i guess that didn't help much, i didn't even vote
Mmm... talking about these PS1 classics is making me think of going back and completing the ones i never actually finished (FFT, CT, FF1-6)

When my brother went away to college we ended up splitting our game collection (though whenever we see each other we exchange games), but because of how much free time I have I've looked into buying second copies of lots of these old games. So... Chrono Cross, Star Ocean: The Second Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Xenogears are all $20 brand new factory-sealed on ebay (infinite supply, too) because of how they've become Greatest Hits. For Grandia 1, it's on my list of games to get but I haven't gotten to it yet so I don't know the price. I'm split between Star Ocean 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics (leaning more toward Final Fantasy Tactics), but I vote Brigandine!

I second those. If there are three games that define how badass PS1 was it's: Brigandine, FFT, and Tactics Ogre.
Brigandine and TO are GREAT for replayability, especially Brigandine. TO is awesome because it has a few seperate storylines based on your choices (that are all well thought out), and FFT has an awesome class/skill system and a great story.
