In the past six months, I have lost 40 pounds. I'm starting to look more like a healthy young man. Really a change in life style is all you need. Anyways just felt like bragging.

In the past six months, I have lost 40 pounds. I'm starting to look more like a healthy young man. Really a change in life style is all you need. Anyways just felt like bragging. That is great. I need to do that myself. I think I've gained close to ten pounds since the beginning of the summer, due mostly to a heavy workload in non-physical jobs. I used to always go home over the summer, where I would swim, work physical factory jobs, play basketball, and stay so busy that I missed a few meals. This summer I stayed in Columbus by myself and worked an office job. Also, I used to always play basketball with my roommate during the school year, but he graduated, so... Anyways, I didn't meant to turn this into something about me, but I was over 205 last I weighed myself, up from 155 about four years ago when I entered college. I don't have any illusions of getting back down that far (I was pretty scrawny back then), but I would like to get down around 180, and in better physical shape. I have been trying ever since I exited freshman year at 200, with no success (I'm actually slipping farther), so I applaud you. You have every right to be proud of yourself and brag. I'm curious what you did to lose it ("change in life style" is a bit vague . Anyways, congratulations! May the lasses swoon in your presence. congrats man! don't celebrate with cake. Nice one.

I pretty much stopped drinking soda pop, stopped eating fast food and junk food and started drinking a lot more water. I pretty much got into a mind set that "If I can make it myself, its probably good to eat."
I used to way 245, now I weigh (the same as you ironically) 205. I'm aiming for another 15-20 pounds.

I'm 200 and not fat at all really, a little pouch when I sit but that's it. I'm 6'2 though and am pretty musclular. Muscle weighs more than fat so I guess, but 200 isn't bad.

Well Done!
If I lost that much - weight I'd be invisible!
Yup, a genuine 130 pound Hippy!
In his 40's yet!
At least I'm still agile...
I always said that if you were agile, your body type didn't matter.
Staying in shape is the key.
Congratulations!

I pretty much stopped drinking soda pop, stopped eating fast food and junk food and started drinking a lot more water. That is a good strategy. I think pop is the main thing, really. It doesn't really fill you up, yet a can of pop has more carbs/calories than your average candy bar, with no redeeming qualities (some candy bars at least have peanuts and stuff). Fast food and junk food is my main problem: I live pretty close to Taco Bell and find myself going there a lot, and pizza is just a phone call away, so I end up eating way too much of that. Nice job on being able to avoid those things, I know it's tough. Yeah, that's not bad at all. I'm only 5'10", and I just don't feel as good physcially as I used to. It's not so much about how I look, but when I was in high school, and in my freshman year of college, I used to have endless energy, and now I'm pretty lazy and sluggish. I think dropping some weight and improving my diet would help this a lot. What do you think, Bigfoot, do you feel more energetic and better overall after losing some weight?

Alot more so actually. I have a constant need now to go out and do something all the time now. I find it hard to just sit down and play a videogame anymore because I think that I could be doing something else. Plus I feel alot better about myself. Thanksgiving I go to visit my family and everyone can't help but say how much better I look. My aunt even said "You're getting skinny!" So yeah, I feel better too.
And avoiding things like fast food and soda isn't hard for me anymore. I just flat out gave it up, something that some poeple couldn't dream of doing. Most fast and junk food is processed to the point to where it aint real food, its just made to look and taste like food. And when I think about it, I don't really want to put that stuff in my body.
I aint saying I don't go out and eat anymore though, I go to Tracy's (a 24 hour diner) with my friends all the time. And instead of getting a burger and deep fried fries, I'll get hash browns and eggs. I aint much for comprimising, I'll have the real deal or just give it up.
So yeah, I guess if anyone wants advice from me. I'll just say avoid a "diet" train of thought, but feel the need to better yourself.

i gave up coke several years back for lent and never looked back. i am constanly encouraging people to do the same. it's amazing the health improvements from such a small sacrifice.

You just keep the laughs coming in this thread. If we weren't previously talking about pop, this could totally be taken the wrong way.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I'm still getting to my ideal weight. I found at the start of the day, drinking a lot of water(like, 32 oz.?) tends to clean the body out real fast. I find that losing weight is faster when the waste from previous meals are cleaned out, probably gives your body a chance to clean house or something. I'm also trying to eat vegetable soup more often. It's not exactly a cheeseburger, but it fills me up.

Here some comparison pics. Like, a year ago. Taken a few days ago. I guess I need better comparison pics, but I guess my face is enough to tell. I usually get the "Wow, looks like your losing alot of weight." "Yeah, you can just tell with his face."
