Just curious what games you guys are lookin towards this year. I personally am for KH 2, sadly, the next Zelda game just doesn't look apealing to me. It has good graphics, but the videos of the gameplay just weren't interesting. I'm sure I'll get it, but KH2 is the most eye appealing.
Edit: Oh poo, I put a Other Feature in there, pretend its in there then. If you pick Other, state name and all k?

While I'm always psyched by a new Zelda game I can't turn my back on my roots. Squaresoft and Final Fantasy brought me into mainstream gaming so I will forever be a Final Fantasy fan first and foremost.

Hey! Dragon Quest VIII isn't on the list. I love the Dragon Quest series and this one looks to be the best yet.
I don't have enough info on FFXII or Kingdom Hearts 2 to get excited about them, I don't have a Gamecube so I can't play the new Zelda, and RPG Maker 3 seems to limited to me.
Not that I won't try to pick up all these great games - I'm even temped to buy a Gamecube just so I can play Zelda (and I'll pick up a few of the other great Nintendo games while I'm at it).
P.S. Last I heard FFXII won't be out Until March 2006, so it shouldn't be on this list.

I must be a real geek.
I voted RPGM3.
I only recently got back into gaming after a long absence and tried a few of the new games but, believe it or not, I like the old ones better. I find the flashy ones tend to sacrifice fun and weirdness for spectacular visuals.
My favorite Computer Game of all time is still The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (and that does not even count as a video game because it was one of those all text PC "Adventure" games). I laughed more playing that game than any other game ever (except perhaps Starship Titanic) (another Douglas Adams game that was so funny it took me years to notice that the gameplay really sucked!) (but it is still my second favorite anyhow!!).
I have not even wanted another game since I got RPGM2 around the winter solstice (christmas) of last year. I can make things that appeal to my twisted sense of what is funny like would never be found in a mass market game.
So I guess that makes my vote sort of predetermined anyhow. But I felt that it deserved an explanation.

Dragon Quest? As in a continuation from the NES? I played I and II and thought they died after that...I'd like to see how it has evolved since then.
I had to put RPGM3 as my choice, since there is nothing I like more in the video game world than making my own.

i had to vote zelda. i've been a fan for an incredibly long time. i've actually never played a final fantasy game, and i wasn't really interested in kingdom hearts. rpgm3 is my next choice.
i'm also anxiously awaiting tales of legendia.

You've never played a Final Fantasy!
Wow, you're like a real RPG minority. Being one the most popular RPG series ever I thought ever enthusist had played at least one FF.
You should give 12 a rental at least. It has a lot of great talent involved in its production. Not to mention they've been working on it for like what 3, 4 years? I would wager its going to be one of the best efforts we've seen yet from Squaresoft.

Yeah, They announced FF XII soon after announcing FF XI. You should play FF X, as it's pretty good and shouldn't be too hard to find. Get FF VII if you can. It's a bit out of date, but the production values are though the roof. Give FF IV and VI a try as well. I prefer IV, but many people liked VI better. They are both good. (FYI: FF IV was FF II and FF VI was FF III on the SNES)
Dragon Quest (called Dragon Warrior in NA) had four games on the NES (I've played them all), two on the SNES which never came out in NA for some reason (I hope they come out some time - maybe you'll be able to download them onto the Nintendo Revelution). DQ VII came out on the PS1, and Now DQ VIII is coming to the PS2. Dragon Quest is more popular then Final Fantasy in Japan and has been around longer, however there is a much greater time between games (like 5 years per game since the SNES days) but they are also very long. DQ VII takes at least 100 hours to get through the main quest. That doesn't include time spent on all the extra stuff. My DQ game has over 145 hours logged on it and I still haven't done everything.
DQ VIII gives you a big world to explore and lots of things to find. I think the designer said it would take about 50 hours to rush through the main quest (making it shorter the DQ VII) but could easily take over 100 hours if you explore around and do all the side quests. This is an old school RPG done right. Anyone who thinks older RPG games are better then the new ones should pick up Dragon Quest VIII. It's going to be great!

I just recently got into the Dragon Quest/Warrior series. It takes a lot of patience to play the DW games because they're incredibly tough, and one mistake could be game over. But if you've got an will of steal, you'll find that these games are pretty enjoyable.
I don't recommend DW to incredibly impatient people.

Yeah, I thinks that's why I love the series and many people hate it. I enjoy running around all over the place, searching every corner or every room, and building up my levels and equipment.
FYI: The series is called Dragon Quest , not Dragon Warrior. The name was changed to Dragon Warrior in North America because there was all ready a Dragon Quest game. Since that game is now long forgoten, Enix (Excuse me, SQUARE Enix) as gained the rights to use the name, and all new Dragon Quest games (including any remakes of older games) will use that title. It is still okey to refer to older games by the old title (the same as FF4 is still refered to as FF2, since that is the name used when it was first released here).

Oh, didn't know that. I like the name Dragon Quest better anyway. Yeah. I love that too.
