I just got Weird Al's "Straight Outta Lynwood" CD/DVD and boy is it funny. Note that it's a special DualDisc that has a Music CD on one side and a Video DVD on the other. Pretty cool. The best part of the DVD are the 6 animated music videos; including videos by Bill Plympton, John Kricfalusi (Ren and Stimpy), and Seth Green and Matt Senreich (Robot Chicken/Adult Swim, Family Guy). Bill has a cool animation style I've always liked and "Don't Download This Song " is no exception. John K. is always pushing the animation envelope, and "Close But No Cigar" is one of his best. Kattie Rice designed the characters and her style really works well with John's. Seth and Matt really make "Weasel Stomping Day" come to life. You've really got to see this video to believe it. Crazy. The last three videos :"I'll Sue Ya' ", "Virus Alert" and "Pancreas" are all pretty funny as well. Each done in their own style by well respected animators. Anyone who loves to laugh should pick up this DualDisc. It costs the same as a CD so it's more than worth the money. P.S. This is my random post of the week. I'll be back next weekend to post again.

I'd say my favorite band is Keane. I've been hesitant to say it here given how crazily I've posted about Jimmy Eat World before, but I actually think Keane are better. Definitely get both albums, and definitely don't settle for MP3s!!! They put in so many more subtle rhythms that improve the songs tremendously that you would miss out on with a 128 or 256, as opposed 512 like on the album, kilobites per second (kb) version!!!!!... I'm not just saying it because I'm a fan, but because it will make a HUGE difference in what you hear and how good the songs are, bro. You should actually do this with all the music you like, given that you truly like the music, but DEFINITELY do this with Keane, Josh Groban, and Bach!!! I'm just surprised kingofthecloset said he liked "anything hardcore," "Metal," and "oldschool punk" then listed Jimmy Eat World. It just through me for a loop - I was like "What the?!"... It was cool. Anyways, here's my list, in no particular order: Keane Josh Groban Jimmy Eat World John Mayer Norah Jones Colin Hayes There are other current/recent ones, but I'd say these are the more reliable ones. Any Classical Composer Favorite's Bach since his music's so soothing and melodic... mmmm Total favorite of all I listed is Bach. Poop out!

will, you should look for a song called gayane's adagio; probably the best piece i've ever heard. it's a string choir, with a violin duet, and the escalation is fabulous; it absolutely captures human sorrow in its almost not harmony.
anyway, my music tastes are ecclectic. I currently am loving bethany dillon. i generally like anything on an acoustic guitar, anything punk, post punk, or alternative. Cat Stevens is a really awesome musician to me.
anyway, more later, maybe.

I loved Linkin Park there for a while. I bought their CD and that was all I listened to after breaking up with my girlfriend. I still like their music, but I don't listen to them much anymore.
I like a bunch of different music, but my current favorite band is Yonder Mountain String Band. They are a bluegrass band, and bluegrass is probably my favorite music; I love a good fiddle and mandolin. My girlfriend and I saw them in concert, and they were great. Their music is really full and just sounds awesome: a guitar, a standup bass, a fiddle, and a mandolin.
When I'm driving around, I mostly listen to hard rock on the radio. I like Shinedown by Godsmack; it has a cool harmonica part and some nice guitar riffs. My girlfriend and I saw System of a Down in concert, and they are great, too, a really unique sound and songs with some substance to them. One rock band that I didn't like initially is Nickelback, but I've been more impressed with their music as they've been around longer, because a lot of it talks about problems in society (though not as extensive as SOAD). One example is "Rockstar".
So yeah, my tastes are a bit eclectic, but I pretty much like anything that involves musical talent or clever songwriting. What I don't like is formula pop music sung by people who don't play instruments or write their own songs. I also don't like rap artists who don't make their own beats and they only make songs about money and sex. I really do appreciate rappers with clever rhymes (some of Eminems freestyles are amazingly witty and hilarious) and good beats.
Anyways, that's my take on music.

nickelback has grown on me as well, doan. i bought their... silver side up cd and thought id never buy another cd from them, but ive since seen them in concert twice. hm...
as for linkin park, i had their cd for like a year before they got popular, so i was burnt out on them. what i will say is that both of their cds have been really high quality.
i used to listen to a lot of harder rock, but i find myself trending away from it now. I don't know why.
