Since I'm registered to vote in one county and living in another, I couldn't vote without going through a lot of red tape to prove I wasn't going to vote in both places, so I ended up not being able to vote anywhere.
Like many people, I would have voted Green Party just to let the main party's know that their actions make everyone look bad. Come on people, we're here to help all Canadians, not just the ones who have the most money and/or power. All this in-fighting isn't helping anyone. No more mud-slinging.
That's my two-cents worth on the topic.

Come on people, we're here to help all Canadians, not just the ones who have the most money and/or power. That's a nice thought. And it would be true if Canada (or the US of A for that matter) were a Democracy. I think Democracy is much like Communism, there has never been a true one on the planet. And can not be. It is too idealized. So... since we actually live in a Plutocracy (America and Canada BOTH), it makes sense that the help goes to the ones who have the most money and/or power. It is so much easier to understand Government once you tear off it's Democratic mask. I just wish they would stop talking about Democracy when we all know they don't mean it. If spreading Democracy was the the true goal, why not recognize HAMAS as a Democratically elected Government in Palestine? Ummm... OK. I've had my rant. We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic. Peace. <><><> EDIT: <><><> This is relevant: How did you decide for whom to vote? I used a very scientific process back in '04: Peace.

I just want to point out that of all the times I have posted that image anywhere, this is the first to have gotten ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE!
I'll assume I stunned you all into silence.
Peace.

YO finnaly got back to check my thread. and Ro' I absolutly agree with you about the failure of the democratic experiment thus far. But were you serious about the HAMAS thing? If so you must be on something stronger than that bottle of zoot juice your always showing off. Bear out.

I was serious about proving that Democracy is an illusion.
Were it real, we would be compelled to accept HAMAS as the Democratically Elected Government of Palestine.
An absolutely unacceptable act.
Therefore Democracy is not real.
But you missed the important part...
My Scientific Method for determining the most worthy Candidate for Office!
And as an aside, I have been known to be on stronger things than that bottle, but that's still my favorite!
Peace.

Bah, government as a whole is stupid. What happened to the elders that were selected based on wisdom and integrity, rather than who had the most influence? I trip over my own nostalgia.

Therefore Democracy is not real. ahhh I see. (forgive the bear for doubting, you see I mistook your example, for the simple reason that in my thinking the "democratic" process in our own country's is already so visably and indisputably corrupt that I did not understand the contrast between our busted ass democracy and the palistinian authority's even more busted ass one.) And hey to the rest of you kiddies.... think that voter interferance/intimidation is a thing of the 3rd world, THINK AGAIN! while there are many examples, I will give you one here: Member of parliment Hon. Sheila Copps(A respected 20 plus year veteran of canadian poltics) was recently(2 years?) pushed out of her elected seat when the (then) ruling Liberals consolidated Two ridings each with elected members int one UNILATERALLY! there was a bi-election in which voters were locked out of polling stations, redirected to wrong locations and otherwise interfered with. though the allegation's were not refuted. NOTHING WAS DONE. (needless to say Sheila lost, Tony Valeri won the entire new larger riding and the press forgot about the whole thing)

MrBear: I just wanted to say how proud I am of you guys up in Canadia! You kicked out the whole corrupt lot of them! Way to go! (sigh) I wish we could do that here.
Also, Rodak, I've always thought that Athens got pretty close to an actual Democracy, albeit a patriarchal one.
Lastly, that picture has scarred me for life. I didn't need that image. Maybe I'll become a monk.......
