EDIT: Wow... I actually solved one on my own! At any rate, I'll leave it here in case anyone else ever comes along with the same question...
I really don't like the DMS, and I've seriously been thinking about creating a CMS. I've read everything I could find on it, and have spent the past hour or so getting everything set up the way I want it.
So, I've got this somewhat okay-looking CMS that doesn't work. The only things I really want to salvage from the DMS is the item list and the party member stats... the rest of the options will be unique to my game (I hope!)
All I really want the item list to do is serve as an inventory of what the player has... nothing else. My game doesn't allow the use of items outside of battle (although in some instances, like if a door required a key to unlock it, the game would check for the key automatically and execute the proper script... you wouldn't have to go to "Items" and select the "Key," if that makes sense.) That's pretty much how I planned it from the start, and I think that will probably save a bit of complex scripting.
Now, I've read BloodKnight's Scripting FAQ, and understand that it is possible to use the "Display Sell List" command to display your item list. However, I'm not understanding how to implement this. Basically, no matter what I do, I can't get the sell list to come up. I've tried calling the script as well as placing it directly in the script I'm working in, both to no avail.
I've yet to delete the preset scripts that come with RPGM2, and there is a merchant script that allows you to buy and sell from a merchant in the preset world. In the preset world, this works perfectly. However, I tried calling that merchant script into my CMS, just out of curiosity, and all of the merchant text displayed, but the Sell List never did. I'm stuck... what's the trick to displaying the sell list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
SOLUTION: This how I got it to work... there may be another way, but I sure couldn't figure it out.
Instead of using the Display Sell List command directly, (which wouldn't work for me) I used the Input: Merchant List command. When this window comes up, just plug in a script containing the Display Sell List command into the "Merchant Script" slot, and it should work.
(That settles it... I'm not deleting the RPGM2 preset town scripts until right before my game release. Those things are useful for semi-newbies like myself.)
