About your solo project's BS... Well, I was thinking of using a BS using only action scripts. I can do it, but I have a for ya. How do you plan on designing your party HUD? I use text boxes for my menus, so using a starndard HUD with boxes would be limiting, if not impossible. I could use bars, but it'd take mountains of work just for one character. I was hoping you might have a better solution.

The way my CMS is designed ( look here), the VFX on it are attached to events. That is, all the numbers in the HP/MP display are 3D VFX which are applied to events. So in my battle system, I will have the characters standing on the battle field with those numbers displayed. I have a script called "Refresh VFX" that rechecks all the numbers and changes them to their current values, and that script will run after each action that takes place in battle. As for user menus, I haven't thought a whole lot about them, but I will likely use text boxes and button waits to guide the player along. Unfortunately, I haven't thought a whole lot about exactly how this will work, but I'm sure that I will be able to come up with a way.

How many characters do you plan to have in your BS BTW? I already though of using VFX, but I just calculated the amount I needed for 3 characters' HP/MP-207 effects. That doesn't the include the display of customizable names(if you planned on using a a VFX system to display names, or plan on letting the character name them at all). On top of displaying damage/recovery through effects, it seems the VFX workload will go past 300. I couldn't make that many effects...again.

I had to make close to 60 VFX total to display digits 0-9 in 6 different locations. Those numerals are used at different heights to show the HP, then MP, then Level one on top of the other. In battle, it will show HP, MP, and possible AP below that (a two digit "action points" number). I planned on having up to 8 playable characters in battle, but once the 60 digits are created, there's no need for any more regardless of how many people are in battle.

That sounds like a plan...if I fully understood it. I can't wait to see how it turns out for you.
