It was while looking through many of these questions that I came up with the idea to create a FAQ on just about everything to do with RPG Maker 2. This is to say that the document would house information on everything from how to use variables, to advance visual effect techniques, to information on every single game every released for RPG Maker 2. So far, I've already begun production on the project and I've been up all night typing the document up. The actual FAQ is a continuation of another RPG Maker 2 FAQ that I created all the way back in 2004.
The inevitable question that must be asked is: what should be posted in the FAQ (what takes the highest priority)?

In General: Examples of working scripts.
More specifically:
Step by step creation of:
Direct Effects
Indirect Effects
Items
Party Members
Classes
Abilities
I guess just go down the menu and explain things in order.
Pay particular attention to explaining all those funny "slots" in the above mentioned editors. Completeness may be tedious, but it will make your FAQ shine.
Good Luck with it!
Peace.

I like the idea. A complete faq would be ideal..I would hope that the faq would go into detail on specific sections. EX:Varibles..Well we've all been told a million times what they do, but how about giving us examples..In the official guide it gives an example on a varible which you can use on every member in a town, which they all say the same thing..
Rodaks VFX guide goes into step-by-step example on how to use it, to build what you want, this is what it should be compliled on,,,

Have you seen Dungeon Warden's FAQ? ( www.doanthenado.com/guides.html ) I'd recommend maybe working with him to add to it, since all those flags and variables would be insane to figure out on one's one. I REALLY like the idea of a step-by-step process for making the various things Rodak said (Direct Effects, Indirect Effects, etc.) since that's what most people need help on understanding (most people already understand how to make Scripts, Events, and Event Placement (and how they work) already, but most don't understand Direct Effects, Indirect Effects, etc.). I myself can help with all of those, but trying to compete with Dungeon Warden's FAQ'd be too much for me. Either way, another good FAQ is always appreciated, and we all support you in doing so.

this is a good idea. if you can pull this off, it'd help many, many people. eveything Rodak said should be addressed. also it would be neat if you could have a section with the contents of the Common Script Database. dunno...just a thought. anyway, good luck with this. -the smurf

If you check the version number of my FAQ, you'll see I called it Version 0.8. This is because I planed to put in a lot more information then what it currently contains. I called it an Advanced FAQ since it was designed for people who already understand RPG Maker 2 and are looking for help to figure out how to use RPG Maker 2 to it's full potential.
I also though about making an FAQ for Dummy's version that gave step by step instructions but that would take too long and several people have already created step-by-step FAQ's for difference sections. It would be nice to pull all this information into a book for handy reference.
I really have no time to do anything, so I can't be much help beyond explaining anything in my FAQ you don't understand. Someday I'll go into more information about how to fully use the direct and indirect effects (there are options even the game designers don't use) but you'll have to wait for summer before I can even think about something like that.

We should all cooperate to make a FAQ. It's incredibly difficult to do by oneself, as a LOT of information needs to be explained. I think we should all combine elements to make just ONE. Rodak could take on VFX, Nash could do scripting(even though I'd like to), and etc. I think it's great everyone wants to contribute somehow, but I think we'll come up with a greater effort in a shorter time if we all come together to make one FAQ.
We all have our perception of what's good for everyone... maybe it's just wishful thinking.

I tried getting a cooperative effort going on both my VFX Guide and even a game for a certain VFX Cow you may know.
Neither worked out well.
If such a thing happens, I'll contribute in whatever ways I can.
Good luck organizing it.
Peace.

I personally think you should include a begginer's part. Like a simple story and directions on how to make it. Just to introduce to all the beginner's (such as myself) all the tools and menu's and how to use and work everything.

Hmm...didn't see this one.
I've been working on one on a Word Document for a while, but life keeps getting in the way.
If you'd like, LunarMoon2, I could e-mail/pm it to you and you could continue from there. It doesn't matter though. If you don't want to do it, I'll still work on it. It just might take longer.

You have to develop a tough skin to understand this system.
