1) in my shop there are three different areas, weopon, armor, medicen, he controls all three and he runs back and forth as you do, but when you stop he just keeps going back and forth really quickly, i want him to stop and face you.
2)when you start the screen is black, it says like wake up, then the screen comes back, your in bed, and somebody is next to the bed, they say something, then the walk like 5 W then 6 S or something like that. i cant get them to even show up
3) the bar tender tells you to go pick up an item, you go to the shop, you talk the the shop guy, hey says ok, walks 6 W to the storage room, waits 3-4 seconds, then walks back, gives you items.
4) also i forgot, in like ff9 i think there was a chocobo forest you get a chocobo, then you walk out and get the chocobo, i want to do something like that with the horses but i dont know how to leave a place and still have the horse.
i probably could go more indept if you need, but i think thats good

1) in my shop there are three different areas, weapon, armor, medicine, he controls all three and he runs back and forth as you do, but when you stop he just keeps going back and forth really quickly, i want him to stop and face you.
I assume you have one long counter?
Set the shop keeper's motion to North-South (or directions as appropriate) then place invisible events in each spot you want the shop keeper to recognize as a request for attention.
Each of these calls the shop keeper over (event control change to shopkeeper then event ; location move) and then starts the transaction.
2)when you start the screen is black, it says like wake up, then the screen comes back, your in bed, and somebody is next to the bed, they say something, then the walk like 5 W then 6 S or something like that. i cant get them to even show up
PLEASE... Do NOT start the game waking up!!
People here hate cliche stuff like that! It's too easy (and in 80% of all commercial RPGs). ANYTHING else would be an improvement.
Start in the bathroom.
He is constipated.
He's really struggling.
THEN your mysterious character knocks on the potty door, says his bit, and leaves.
Much Better.
3) the bar tender tells you to go pick up an item, you go to the shop, you talk the the shop guy, hey says ok, walks 6 W to the storage room, waits 3-4 seconds, then walks back, gives you items.
Event movement commands will do it. There's a wait command too.
4) also i forgot, in like ff9 i think there was a chocobo forest you get a chocobo, then you walk out and get the chocobo, i want to do something like that with the horses but i don't know how to leave a place and still have the horse.
That would be the Deploy Vehicle command.
See the sample game for example.
I am on my way out, or I'd be more detailed.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck with it.
Peace.

Not to get off topic, but are you going to release another one of those? They're awesome. Edit: I guess since I all ready posted here, I should help. While most cliched stuff may be uninspired/boring, if you can add your own twist to it, it can be a lot better. Of course, with the "waking up" cliche, that might be a little hard. Anyway, try to strive for originality, but if you find some cliched stuff getting into your game, don't be in such a rush to get rid of it. You can turn a cliche around and make it original.

... you should read the booklet that came with the game. If you can't figure out how to do these things on your own... this game is going to give you some trouble. sorry if that sounds harsh.

What I reccommend is, go through some of the sample data. See what commands they use and what it does. Try changing small sections at a time and see what happens. After a while you'll understand what does what, and you're scripting'll go much more smoothly.

The preset data has a small sample game that comes with the basic and normal data sets. These scripts are really useful in seeing how to move events around and make things happen when you interact with NPCs. Start a new game and go to test play to see the sample game you can play around with.
Don't bother trying to learn anything from Fu-Ma. Nothing is titled and the scripts go all over the place. Play with the preset data. That's how I learned.

It may sound like "hard love", but there is really no substitute for simply learning how things work. Checking out the sample game scripts and simply messing around is really the only way to learn.
That being said, it would be nice to collect some of these common beginner problems together and create a decent walkthrough which would greatly improve upon the one in the Prima guide. I think this might be what Will intended with the FAQ he was working on, and I think it might be good for beginners to have something decent to get them started on the path from beginner to intermediate scripter.

As for #4, you may wan't to look at my topic here because I STILL haven't been able to figure that one out and i think deployed vehicles dissapear when you exit them. (however, this may still be a little advanced for you.) On a side note, the first thing i made was a big blank area with events so that i could figure out how everything (scripting) worked.

thanks sledge, i got it working but i cant get to my tv right now, and im fixing to be in the hospital of a month due to scoleosus surger, back surgery. and cant get it.
when i can, ill copy it down and mayby a video, but just have to fix a couple little thing first.
edit: ok this should work, im using nashs custom button thing, but something like this
horse script
exit vehicle scripting for vehicle here script call button control flag: horse on
then the enter map script
if flag horse i on
deploy vehicle scripting for vehicle ect script call button control
that should work for you, ill try to post a better, clearer version latter

Do deployed vehicles dissapear when you exit them though? I mean, when you bring your horse to the new map and exit it, does it remain there or does it dissapear. and if it does stay, does it dissapear when you reenter the map off the horse? Also, your original horse will warp back to its original coordinates (Where you got the horse). and you cant use this with a sea vehicle, which i eventually want to do. (and you may want to as well)
That is why I have decided not to use this method at this time.
