hey, can anyone give me advice on how to make a minigame where you can pilot a starship and shoot other ships and get prizes for completing missions? I would be kinda like an active battle system. How could I program and design such a scenario?

Well, here's Nash's ACBS (Active Custom Battle System) FAQ, which is the best I can do given what you've said so far: doansdomain.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=Help&action=display&thread=1171003625You'll have to explain more thoroughly what you want to make, too, than "kind of like" because Zelda is kind of like FF7, but so are Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics. Also, the general advice/rule/tip/etc. everyone here will give you is you shouldn't attempt anything unless you can already grasp the basic idea of how to at least start making it. Nonetheless, I have a good idea as to how you could design such a minigame: basically, it'll be MUCH easier if you create the illusion of the ship the player is controlling moving up by having little star VFX moving down instead. Otherwise, it'd be just like all those old starship games where you're constantly moving up and the player moves the ship left and right and shoots stuff. My advice is to focus on necessary stuff first though, such as fixing and improving your main battle system.

It would involve clever use of action scripts, event duplication and removal, event info load, and a bunch of conditional scripting. I think that someone did manage to make a game like this, and it took a lot of work, so be prepared for something that's more complicated than what you might expect, and certainly too complicated for someone to succinctly describe in a post here.

That was said perfectly, Doan. These are the scripting guides that beginners best go through: Doan's World Creation Guide found at his site here: www.doanthenado.com/guides.htmland Doyleman's Script Tutorial at his site here: www.geocities.com/nate_dog7_7/Intro.htmThen otherwise and after those, check out the other guides found at Doan's site's "RPGM2 Guides" page here: www.doanthenado.com/guides.htmAfter you take your time and work on learning to do all the stuff that those first two guides teach you to do and grasp some of the concepts from the other guides covering more advanced subjects, you might be ready to attempt something as custom as a minigame like that which you kind of described.
