Okay, so I picked up RPGM2 at my local GameStop (nowhere else had it) and it's been sitting there FOREVER. It is absolutely encrusted in "put me out of my misery" stickers, now I take it home won't read. No matter what I do. Now I think it might be a burned copy because it has a weird yellow ring around the center... could someone post pics of their discs so I can compare? Or offer me some tips to get it to work? I have a flat PS2 that I've used for about a year.

The disc should be solid blue, on the bottom, you must have a burned copy.

If you do, definitely take it back and demand a refund.

Well it is solid blue on the bottom, but on the top there's a weird yellow ring in the center circle of the label.

Ah, I might know the problem, do you have a slim PS2 or a bulky one? If you have a bulky one try turning it to on its side.

It's slim.
I figure I'll stop by my local Pawn Shop, test it on some of their's and buy it if it works. If not I'll buy a new copy of the game off eBay.
...unless someone can help me out here maybe?

Your best bet would be to buy it off amazon.com, if the disc doesn't work on another PS2.

Your best bet would be to buy it off amazon.com, if the disc doesn't work on another PS2. Well I tried on my friends (a total of four PS2s altogether) and it didn't work on any. I'm stopping by the pawn shop tomorrow, here's hoping it DOESN'T work, afterall a $6 used game is better than a $100 used console. ...actually, if tipping it on it's side for a bulky one might work I'll give it one last shot on my friend's big PS2 and then hit the pawn shops.

Well, with the yellow ring, I have that to. That just shows how long it was in use, and actually, mine is ALOT worse. I bought mine for $20 used, soo, the yellow ring means it has been used alot. Something may have damaged it...

Honestly, if it doesn't work, take it back to GameStop. They would have to be criminals to not take back a game that hasn't worked from Day 1. Then, check out prices on eBay and Amazon and go with the best deal, whatever that happens to be.

[white]I've had many problems with my PS2 in the past. 100% of the time I have been able to fix em by cleaning the lens. Since you have a slim PS2 I assume you can see the lens. Just use a que-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, try a disc repairer that actually buffs the surface (which means it removes a super thin layer of the plastic on the bottom). If all that fails, then either the disc truly is defective or you might just be screwed. Some of the slim PS2's commonly fail to play blue bottom discs. Good luck.
EDIT: Sweetness, this was 1,500th post!!![/white]
