Modification: This poll has been locked, because it turns out that I will be able to convert the times to your own individual time zone by using Javascript.
I think chat is going pretty well, but there are definitely a few improvements to be made. One such improvement is time stamps. The problem is that sometimes when you visit the board, you see a message that someone has written, and you're not sure how long ago it was posted. An obvious solution to this problem is to put timestamps in the post. Before you say that this is a bad idea because the window is already too small, I am one step ahead of you. There is an HTML tag called acronym which allows you to create text which will pop up when you place your mouse over it. This is a perfect solution to timestamping: I can just put an acronym tag around the person's name, and you will be able to put the mouse over their name to see when they made that post.
This is all well and good except for the fact that I have to choose a time to put in the tag. There's might be a way to use javascript after the fact to adjust it, but let's assume for the moment that there is not (if there is, it will likely be a bit complicated to implement). What time zone should the time be displayed as? I am leaning towards Eastern, mostly because it is my own time zone, but also because the majority of the American population lives in the Eastern time zone. That doesn't necessarily mean that the majority of the members live here, so that's what this poll is for. Please let me know what time zone you think should be used for timestamps.
