I'm actually doing a variation on option #1. In my game when you touch a door a message pops up saying "press X to enter/open" and then if X is press the door is opened and the player forced inside.
This is maybe a weird sort of poll, but I thought some one may have some idea that's better that I could implement in my own game.

I found the positioning of the door object not to correlate well with anything else but the door entrance things, so I'm not using any as far as I know of now except for possibly in places that'd have big, special doors like a castle or temple. I'm not sure I'll do, but I'm betting I'll do the touch->open it-> then walk in manually. This allows the player to easily switch screens without having to use his right hand, and for them to have the choice not to leave that room on accident by just touching it (since they have to manually walk into the doorway after it's been opened). (I didn't vote because I wasn't sure which to pick)

All my doors are opened when they are touched, unless they are locked. Then, if the door is a warp, they will have to walk onto the door square.

I make it so that if a door is examined it will either open or a message will appear as to why it won't open (store closed for the night, need a key, etc). The player then has the choice to enter or not, and they will warp when they enter.
