To explain the question...
Almost all of us will reach this issue at one point.
How do you think you'll handle it when making only the party leader visible while walking around, but also allow (unless you're completely disabling the default menu you will be allowing this, which is one of the hardest and lengthiest tasks) the reordering of party members? Why I say this is because when you switch the party leader (main character) out of the first party member position, you'll be walking around with an invisible party member and the visible main character following behind. The things I've thought of are (1) not using the default menu AT ALL (which is out of the question for me) and (2) just telling the player not to switch the main character out of the first position.
My other question (this sort of spans both forums) is: would there be a way to make a script and place it so after reordering the party you could move the main character to the first position? Making the script wouldn't be hard, but where could you put it to have it take effect after exiting the default menu?

You don't have to make the other party members invisible to show only the leader. There is a command under the party section that allows you to display only the leader or display the entire party. The game should automatically display the correct leader if you use this properly.

Yeah, that would only be a problem with RPGM1 games.

If you want a specific party member to always be the leader, you can give that character a custom condition that will move him to the front everytime the party moves. Pesonally, I like switching the leader so that I'm not always looking at the same character throughout the whole game.

Okay, I'll look into this in Scripting and come back. This is all good to know. Thank you.

... i plan on showing only one character the whole time. no trailing party members either. thats mostly because most of my story ideas revolve around one main character (however lofty and unrealistic that is).
however, there was a girl a while back on the agetec forums working on a 'pet' system, that got me thinking. she was trying to make it to where the 'pets' would do their own thing, unless they got so far from the party/leader, in which case they would come back to him/her. i think it was actually dw who made this programming possible.
anyways, i say all that to say that if i were to do a party following, id probably do it that way.

Yeah, basically I didn't want them following because it looks real cheesy since they all move e x a c t l y together in rpgm2. I can help anyone else do it if you want.

Yeah, I remember that pet following idea. I remember putting in my two-cents, but I wasn't the only one that helped getting the system to work.
Getting a party of events to follow the leader might be tricky if there are several objects/bulidings in the area unless you keep the members close by checking the Party coordinates and moving the events toward that spot. Moving the event randonly around the area (while still staying close to the leader) might help them to walk around objects as well. I'll have to test this out. Great idea!

that was my thought dw. if you could use the 'random' in conjunction w/ the 'to party', you could develop a movement system that made both fluid and practical party following. itd also help me to get away from my movement scripts of my tbs when i start workin on a more 'active battle' system. or something.
