Since I've pretty much been a lurker here for a long time, I figured I'd finally make a topic and let you all in on what projects I've got going on. Project 1: Idiots for HireMade With: RPG Maker 2Description: This is going to be my first game I release, as it's going to be the simplest one to make. The plot revolves around 3 broke friends and their search for jobs. And when I say "jobs", I don't mean jobs at fast food restaurants or paper routes. The game will revolve around the quests the 3 friends go on to satisfy their "employers". Bottom Line: I'm not really trying to hard with the plot and design on this one. My goal here is to have fun completing a game with RPG Maker 2, and maybe make the players laugh a few times along the way. I'll release more info on the plot as I make it further into development. Project 2: BattalionMade With: RPG Maker 2Description: THIS is going to be the project I take very seriously. Plot isn't the #1 priority here, as I hope to put an emphasis on gameplay. The game will play out like a simplified Full Spectrum Warrior. You lead a team of 4 soldiers into a warzone and try to lead them to victory via capturing the enemies HQ or elimating all enemy threats. You do directly control the leader of the team, though you don't engage the enemies on your own. Position is the name of the game, and if you don't set up flank attacks and covering fire, you won't be able to conquer the battlefield. Bottom Line: This is the project I'm most excited to make. Though it is on hold until I finish IFH, I am constantly thinking up new ideas for this one. I hope to make this game incredibly lengthy, and hope to have a large variety of battlefields, including jungles, snow levels, cities, indoor levels, etc. The game will have a plot, but it will take a back seat to the gameplay.

I live only a few blocks away from MC and I am handling the VFX for the title.

I like the sound of the first one better!
But I am a Looney and prefer silly things to a "properly constructed" RPG type thing.
Well, welcome to the boards and I look forward to seeing some demos or games in the future.
Peace.

Yeah, I always find it more fun to create a comedy/silly type of game. It won't be much of a game, most likely...more like an interactive movie. But it'll still be fun, I hope.
Battalion will be the tough one. But, I think it will be more satisfying to complete once I do finish it.

Alright...long needed update right here.
After thinking I'd be going without my PS2 for at least 4 weeks, I received my "like new" repaired PS2 today. Which means more RPGM2 for me, hehe.
And where there's RPGM2 and me...there's Battalion. While I'm still thinking up a new name for the game, the ideas are continuing to come to me, thanks in part to the influx of military games I've been playing.
And thus, here comes my Battalion wish list (in other words, crap I hope I can figure out in this game):
1. Suppressing fire by squad mates 2. Flanking 3. Air strikes 4. Controllable vehicles 5. Multiple theaters of combat, from desert to snow, outdoor areas to urban environments. 6. A believable war setting (or at least get the war feeling as best I can with this game)
Like I said, as of right now, I'm not sure how I'll pull this stuff off, or if I even can. But, thanks in part to Bigfoot, I'm going to have vehicles (Helicopters, tanks, etc.), and well modeled infantry weaponry.
Now, on to Idiots for Hire...my RPGM2 movie.
This one should continue to come along nicely, assuming I'm able to continue to come up with new, fresh comedy material. Right now, I've got a couple plot ideas running through my mind, but I've got time to think them all through and pick which I feel would make for the most entertaining storyline.
Well, there's my update. This time around, I hope to update this topic a little more, especially if I can continue to get some good work done on these two projects.

It's official.
Idiots for Hire=dead.
RIP, mediocre game idea.
And in it's place, we have Untitled Movie! This game will be a comedy as well, and as the working title states, is a movie. The "movie" will be a parity of Die Hard mainly (DH=my favorite movie), but will also spoof some other movies/games as well (not sure which ones at this time). Plot's simple, ridiculous, but hopefully in the end, funny.
Not a lot to say here. Since there is no gameplay, there's not much to talk about. And since I'm not ready to talk about the plot yet (still kinda finalizing it), that can wait too. Just figured I'd put it out there ;D

Little update here...
Been making a lotta progress on the movie, and I've completed 7 or 8 scenes thus far. So far, the movie and scenes are relatively simple, but progress is definitely being made and the movie is definitely coming along.
And, now that I've pretty much decided how this game is going to go, I've pretty much finalized the plot. Now, keep in mind...this is a spoof/parity/rip-off comedy of Die Hard, some Navy SEALs, some Rambo...hell, a little bit of everything. So the plot may sound familiar (it should if you've seen any of those movies), and really probably won't make a ton of sense. Just keep that in mind. Now...for the actual plot.
The basic plot is that the main character has a John McClane-style bad day. As in, NOTHING goes right during the day, and you see how bad it is in the first couple of scenes. But, things only get worse later that night at work, when Russian mercenaries storm the building and take the staff hostage, including the MC's girlfriend. At this point, it's up to the "hero" to try to discover the motive behind the attack (I honestly haven't even thought this up yet, hehe), who is behind the attack (don't have this quite yet either), and to finally take the mercs down and save the day, with a little help from some characters that you'll recognize if you've played Bigfoot's Hippy Hunt 2 game (hell, most of the main cast is the same between the two games, haha).
That's it in a nutshell. But, as cheesy/lame as that may sound, it's mainly going to be my attempt at a comedy, mixed with a lotta of guns, explosions, and other action-y kinda stuff.
So yeah. There ya go ;D

That sounds pretty good to me. I really like this movie craze that everyone is getting into. Making a movie that is at least 10 minutes long as one of your first RPGM2 projects is certainly a great way to learn event manipulation and VFX. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Yeah, the movie thing definitely helps you get used to scripting. Especially when you really want it to seem like a movie, like I do.
The length will hopefully be somewhere from 45-60+ minutes. It seems like a lot, but I've actually been able to convert my scenes so far from short scenes to long, interesting scenes. And with the amount of ideas and stuff I've got for this game, I'm pretty sure I could make it a good length.

Even I haven't seen anything on this game yet, but I still can't wait to see it. I am a big fan of old action films, something about them you can't mimic, but parodying them is definitly the next best thing. And another thing, the main reason why this title has the same cast of characters as HH2, is because I have said before, they are based on real poeple. Sorry Bigfoot, but I had to take your picture out. I'm pretty sure that it violated ProBoards policy, so if you don't mind replacing it with one that doesn't include you flipping off the camera, <lumberg voice>that'd be great</lumberg voice>. ;D

Whoopsy daisy, sorry about that man. It kind of slipped my mind that it would be innopropriate. Anyways I updated the picture. It isn't as badass, but you get to see the reason why I get girls numbers at my job. Anyways back on topic, dont mean to hijack.
