Basically, would it bother you in a game if, for a boss fight, you didn't have a cutscene outside of battle but rather the dialogue was at the beginning and end (win) of the boss fight (note: in the actual battle screen part)?
The lengthier explanation of how I came to ask this (feel free to skip the rest of this post) is this: As most of us are probably aware, it is tough to make an intense/suspenseful/actionous cutscene in RPGM2. For a long time I'd come up with the idea of doing this some, to create a suspenseful and intense mood by having them (the boss and the party) talk some before and after (win) the boss battle in the actual battle screen, but I realize that I could do this for some bosses and not have a cutscene portion before or after. Blah blah blah...
Anyways, thank you to whomever posts and/or votes.

I do such strange things in my games I just can't bring myself to criticize such ideas.
I think anytime you can do something that has not been done before, it is a good thing.
Even if it is a stupid thing (and the reason nobody did it before is because it is stupid!), it is still good because it is original.
Look at the requirements to earn a PhD in any subject : you must, for your Thesis, do something nobody has done before!
The only problem I can foresee is making it clear when the characters are talking (unless you are using one of the tricks to show them in battle).
It may be smoother if the enemy is the only one speaking, but with DungeonWarden's system, or screen shots, it could be made smoother.

This would bother me in a game, if you mean that the only talking was done in the battle. I have it so that some of the bosses are going to talk in the battle, since I always loved that in the RPGs that I've played (I think the Final Fantasies did this all the time). But I would highly suggest some talking before hand to build up to the battle where they are talking.

Actually, I was already planing to do this for one of my battle scenes because you get surprise attacked by someone who is not an enemy. If you say the right thing, you can avoid combat altogether.
I also plan to do some cut scenes using the battle system. Once you get out of thinking the default battle system is only for combat, you can think of dozens of things you can use it for.

That's actually a good idea, DW. For some reason it hadn't crossed my mind yet about putting a choice in a battle. I might steal that one.

Well, thank you for voting and responding everyone.
I'll do this and see how it goes. I think it'll be fine since so far my game is very cutscene extensive, and the boss fight is actually surrounded by cutscenes before and after (though not connected within the same 'Event' as the boss).

I had planned on doing this as well, in certain situations. Take a look at any anime with fighting in it. I'd be amazed if they didn't stop to talk every couple minutes. It can be a real boost to the story, and alternatives don't look good. Just don't have them say pointless things. If the only purpose of the text would be to say "Hahaha, I am invincible", then it's really missing the point.

In my opinion, "Hahaha I'm invincible!" would be a good thing to put into the battle depending on the enemy. It shows some of the enemy's personality and makes the battle more exciting.

Pretty much nothing in a game bothers me as long as it is done well, and I'm sure you plan on putting the effort into it to make it good. I disagree with the previous reply, however, and say that "Hahaha, I'm invincible!" does not really advance or develop an enemy at all, as it merely typifies the standard enemy that is seen in all games. I think that what KingSpoom was getting at was that the dialogue should separate the enemy in some way from all other enemies, and I agree that this could be very good.
