So I'm having trouble thinking of a plot for my game, so I thought I'd see what you all do!
What do you do when you're trying to think of a new plot for a game? What do you do in case of a writers' block?

I brainstorm! brainstorm! brainstorm! I write some weird stuff down thinkng about what comes to mind. When I get a writers block(this happens alot) I usually play RPG's to get some good Ideas or Ill watch movies. Depends on what kinda writers block Im having.

Its really hard to say, just start off by thinking what you love play and see in a game, then start from there. What do you think is sad, funny, etc. Then create characters from there.

Yeah, I always take influences from my favorite movies, games, books, anything. I can't just sit and brainstorm, as I never get anywhere.
Things just come to me, I guess.

What Bigfoot hinted at is really a different approach which I have never used, but I like the sounds of it. If you are having trouble thinking of a story, perhaps you should first try to think of what characters are going to be in your story. What kinds of things motivate them? Will the player be able to relate to them? How can I use each character to cause the player to get more deeply involved in my game?
Starting with the characters is a great approach. Create some interesting, original personalities for your game, then decide who will be the main character, what will be his main task in the game, and why? After that, try to think about ways to get the other characters into (and involved in) the story. Once you start doing this, you may just find that your story falls right into place.

Since my game theme is Sci-fi, I just watch the Sci-fi channel and get some cool ideas..

Thats true earthlinker. I make an entire like movie script for everything I want that way I know what I have to work with. I made one with a notebook and its about 30 pages long so.... its gonna be awhile before I finish TSLQ. But good Idea w/ a book or you could play RPGS maybe? I mean it is an RPGM.
