I've been working on my game a lot lately and just recently got real technical on the default battle system. Well, I thought the old and plain leveling system was too restrictive on the player and could not allow for customization of the characters. So. My game has 25 different Classes to choose from. Any member may become any class, and their stats will change a little (the percent changes). Then depending on that character's class is, their stats will go up at different rates. Say one character levels up as a Warrior, and one as a Black mage, the warrior will gain more attack, but less magic power at the level up. The black mage will gain more magic power, but less attack at the level up. So each class will level up with different stats. So do you guys have any Opinions, suggestions or questions?

I like this... it's good that the player has control over how their characters develop. A nice side effect of a system like this is that it offers a lot of replayability, since the player can start over and play the game with a completely different set of skills.

Thanks a lot Doan. It took about 15,000 memory to make the level up script the way it is. But hey, I still got about 450,000 to work with, got any suggestions on what I should do with it besides the rest of the story (I'm about halfway done)? Here is some of my current progress:
I am currently working on a style system for the characters which will Increase or decrease a characters stats even farther.
I have all 95 weapons done (13 different types of weapons, 7 of each type plus 4 extra Strong weapons)
And thats what I have been or am working on lately. Also, how many different abilities do you think I should have for each class?

i don't know about for each class, but for the abilities in Seraphim i'm doing something similar to Tales of Symphonia.
like you start with 2 abilities and gain one every other level or so, until you have about six or seven different skills. each skill is a 'level one' skill and has about two or three stronger versions. along with that, there are skills that are two other skills combined. ToS example: Demon Fang lvl1, Fierce Demon Fang lvl2, Demonic Circle lvl3, Sonic Thrust lvl1, Demonic Thrust (Demon Fang and Sonic Thrust).
anyway, that's how i'm going about skills/abilities. for spirit saga 2 most of them will be learned through items.
hope that gave you some ideas. i'm looking forward to your game.

Yeah, wow. This all sounds very good, especially that you've already done it and are halfway through (games are very rarely finished). I love the class systems of Brigandine, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc. as it seems you do too.
