I'm a definite maybe.
I think with it's ability to make custom sprites and such I will finally be able to make my dream project: Looney Tunes vs Aliens (the smooth headed ones from the first movie... not those ugly bumpy headed ones from the sequels).
Remember the scene where Foghorn Leghorn put Barnyard Dog over his knee and spanked him with a 2 x 4 while holding his rear up by the tail? Well, switch an Alien for the Dog and you'll have an idea of some of the visuals I've always wanted to create.
And with the ability to scan in your own art for sprites, this means I can have great looking Toons as well as possibly using photos for the alien sprites.
If all that is doable, I won't be able to say no (unless it is because of money).
And you think what I've done up to now was silly....
Moo-Hoo-Hoo!

I think that after starting out with a 3D RPG Maker that I would never be able to go back to 2D. And I don't know that the battle system is even as flexible as RPGM2. As of now, I don't think I'll get it, but I'll certainly support it here if it is of interest.

Yes, the biggest limitation is the 2D, although you have 3 levels so you can make 2.5D graphics if you want.
The battle system is way more powerful than RPG Maker 2 because all the battle scripts can be altered, even the menus. You can even use custom battle systems with random battles. Imaging random tactical or free action battles. There are no limits other then the time and ability to create the scripts. The default battle system is very similar to the one in RPG Maker 2 except everyone acts on their turn instead of choosing all actions at the begining of battle.
If I wasn't going back to school, I would definately get this, but I don't know if I'll have the time to make anything. I'll wait until I have time to work on something before I buy it.

I'll definitely have to get this. I'm all for the custom sprites, seeing as they can actually look better than 3D stuff if done right. Just the fact that you can scan original artwork and use it in game excites me. My brother is an insanely talented artist (go to www.drunkduck.com/users/C/Chromus_Zone/index.php to see what I mean- and forum comic1 has a loooong story behind it... dont ask), and his best friend is a force to be reckoned with on music generators. I'm sure I can get their help on a project. Since you can import stuff, that would mean a collaboration RPG would be possible. That fact alone means RPG's made using XP could be made faster than the console versions. In conclusion: GIMME!

And the single best looking Bugs Bunny game to date was the 2D Wabbit Wampage for the SNES. He has never translated well to 3D. Not even in Space Jam (Back in action was an improvement... but neither of those were games). Until they give us plain old polygons in the VFX editor, this will be the best way to go for making most Cartoon style games. Peace. <><><> EDIT: <><><> OFF TOPIC: I know I need glasses, but am I the only one who has trouble reading the quoted remarks because of the size reduction? I just enlarged it for this thread by editing. If I am the only one whom this bothers, nevermind... but if there are others who feel the same, drop a Private Message or start a thread in the proper forum... I don't want to hijack this 'un. I will see the thread and add my support there. But if this is just bothering my old eyes and nobody elses, nevermind. Peace again.

Yeah that is cool when using RPG Maker XP. I'm actually debating if I want to use these new sprites called Kaiser sprites for a game in XP. I used to use X becuase if you script correctly you can make any system like someone made an awesome menu like that of FFX-2 Once you learn how to script you can make awesome games but you DONT have to script.

Well, only those characters who normally have guns, like Elmer Fudd, Marvin the Martian, and Duck Dodgers.
I hate it when people put classic characters in situations that clash with their personalities. I can't even stand to see Bugs Bunny in clothes. The Wabbit should only be Naked or in Drag! And giving Bugs a gun would be nothing short of Blasphemy!!
This is a dream project and everybody must stay in character. I can, however, guarantee a horrible death or two for Tweety.
I hope it comes to pass.
Peace.
Post Script: LTVA? Woo-Hoo! I earned an acronym! And I understood it too! I'm getting better at this.

I can, however, guarantee a horrible death or two for Tweety. What about the road runner too?
Nah, he's too fast for 'em. Plus, I have nothing against Road Runner. I have personal problems with Tweety and The Tasmanian Devil though. They are on ALL the Looney Tunes merchandising anymore. I can't find much Wabbbit stuff anymore. It makes me very angry... very angry indeed! And of course you realize, that means War!! But I do not want to hijack DungeonWarden's topic... So, is this site going to consider RPGMXP for it's mysterious "New Project" found here?At least file sharing is possible, so long as we all have the legal version and can prove it. That idea is completely dead otherwise unless we started swapping the RPGM2 save around and leave it with each person for a set amount of time then move it to the next. Like the old campfire thing where each person continues the story where the last left off. But I'm doing it again. I just can't keep to one subject here! Oy.

I just cant wait until I get XP, just all the thoughts ive had for remaking Hippy Hunt 1, I can make effects such as a shotgun blow to the face, and etc. And with custom soundtracks, my god my game will be fantastic. Look forward to it everyone.

Update: It was announced at the Pavilion that the price of PRG Maker XP will be $60 US - which is high for a game, but a good price for a toolbox program, and much cheaper then the inport version ($100 or more). Once it's released on September 18, 2005, you'll be able to download it from Download.Com

Yes, this would be a very good tool for a collaboration project, if enough people buy it. At $60, I may just find the desire to try it out.
