I see a lot of hooplah about RPGM3, which is fine. I'm concerned that I haven't heard anything from anybody about RPGMXP. I downloaded the 30 day demo to give it a whirl, and I must say it looks very nice. Some of the cool features of RPGM2 aren't in the defaults, but with a whole programming language behind it, I'm sure they can be implemented. Think of it like RPGM1 with a complete makeover, and a personal trainer: more beautiful and more powerful. It was very easy to import MP3 files to use as music (the defaults are ok, but kinda blase). This was the best new feature in my opinion. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to a CD and thought "HEY! That would go great in a video game!", keeping in mind I listen to mainly techno (gets me thinking about battle sequences) and celtic (towns, firelds, and sacred places). I'm having a lot of fun with the demo. The one thing I can't figure out, is how to make a map wrap around like a world map. You just run into screen borders. I'm betting there's a way around this, I just haven't fiddled around enough yet. All in all, I would suggest people here at least try the demo. It's free, for Pete's sake (sorry Pete)! Get it at www.download.com/RPG-Maker-XP/3000-7537_4-10437118.html?tag=lst-0-1

I've downloaded and payed for RPGM XP and have spent some time reading up on it and trying a few things. There is a lot of info on the web about how to do things (mostly from people playing with the Japanese version) so it shouldn't be too hard to find info on that wrap-around feature you want.
I plan to make a simple game sometime (maybe this weekend) to see what the software can do. Looks pretty interesting so far.

Hey, BlackBoxx. I tried that link, but it says the download isn't available. And I really wanted to try it out, too.

That message is lying - the truth is that they moved the link because they updated to a new version. This is the new link, but if this one stops working, go to www.download.com and search for RPG Maker XP. It is still there.

I just got it today...and it seems pretty complicated. But, I'm sure when I put a little time into it I'll be able to work with it.
